I've also realised something similar; that I'm going to be on the road driving for three hours for the duration of the race (and then some).

I hope you enjoy the epicness that will be the 2014 Monaco Grand Prix. There's no way this race is going to be boring if I won't be able to see it :p

Anything can happen. Remember in 2012 we had random winners each race, and we tought its gonna be a exciting race and everything and it was all but exciting..
But we watch cuz no one knows what will happen..

2012? You mean the race where the 4 first drivers finished in 1.343s, with a little rain spicing it up in the last laps?

If that was "all but exciting" then I'll just give up on motorsport altogether.

Maybe the race can be fun for some of our members. There is a possibility of huge trains and crazy stuff going by GP2 race.

The Supersoft lasts for just some 8 laps or less, then it is already much slower than the Softs. This compound would be hilarious in a track like Barcelona or Silverstone. Most likely it would be like a qualifying tyre from the late 80's/early 90's, ie, lasts barely one flying lap, then it's already totally wasted.

Maldonado will bring at least one SC, so there is chance for abnormalities in the racing order. I think this race won't be worse than the average Monaco level, but then, that is easy as it's a really low one.

that wasn't exciting because you knew in advance that, unless the rain really started to get serious, absolutely nothing would happen. The only excitement for me was "will the rain get heavier?"

Now 2011. That could have been great. Top 3 really close, with Vettel first but on destroyed tires. Then that red flag happened and Vettel was allowed to change tires on the grid, gone excitement. Man I was frustrated.

But unfortunately, for Monaco, it doesn't matter how close the cars are. They will not overtake. But it is still Monaco so I forgive them.

2011 GP was way better than 2012, at least there was action. While 2012 it was a close train with 5 cars 78 laps..
I dont see action in that..

Just came across the footage of 2004 pileup brought by Sato's BAR engine explosion. And I caught myself thinking that any technical fluid doesn't effect on the tyre grip nowadays. Or I just don't remember any recent incidents caused by a car losing liquid in race conditions.

cars don't spill fluids because the team call the drivers to retire before it happens

I dont see action in that..

There's 3 types of action, even on the widest road courses:

1) Battling in and out between equal cars, exchanging positions, through many laps (Bahrain this year).
2) The guy behind is slightly faster --> Laps and laps of following and trying to get close and find an opening, mostly with no side-by-side action or any actual attempts (Alonso vs Maldonado at Spain 2012)
3) The guy behind is much faster --> he eats up the other and flies off in the distance (every battle with worn tyres).

My point is:

Case 1: Not possible at Monaco, but it happens very rarely even on the best tracks. Don't expect that from a given race or you're doomed to disappointment.
Case 2: Monaco provides just the same as other tracks.
Case 3: Monaco provides better than the other tracks because it allows the battle to be much longer.

Monaco wins. :p

Negative, I missed China.

last time I slept during a race was China 2010. I was sick and it is one of my greatest regrets in my history watching F1

is been a while since the last time Monaco hosted a great race (2008), if this year doesn't get good, for sure next year will

Regression analysis has a p=.11 so only just about missing significance.

Clear and sunny on Saturday, mostly cloudy on Sunday, both temperatures up to 21 degrees ;)

Hate this time of year, seeing nice beautiful sunny images of Monaco whilst it just turned winter here

I know some people have said that Monaco is outdated but I love the challenges of street circuits.

Hence my interest (or is it obsession?) with the Birmingham Superprix.

I personally love Monaco, I know there isn't much overtaking, but I really don't care.... there's just something magical about
