Most important question: Will the 3rd cars be temporal solution?
If Caterham and Manor get new owners and once Haas comes along in 2016, will they scrap the 3rd car rule? Will F1 still seek new teams and continue cost cutting as planned?

That's going to help Haas significantly. And Toro Rosso too. Maybe that's why Ferrari and Red Bull have agreed to use 3rd cars next season.

Third cars, really? When was the last time we did that, the 1960's? I fail to see how there is no correlation between the changes made to F1 in the past 15 years and the sorry state it's in now.

Wasn't that run to test the onboard camera and had nothing to do with grid size?

Hope the 3th cars confuse the fuck out of everyone the entire 3015 season just do its damn clear it's not the answer.

I'm for customer cars if implemented right.

Lotus did all the on-board camera testing on Nakajima's car (I think it was him).

I could bore you with some funny stories of the cameras shorting the cars battery out, or the receiver falling off the Grandstand at Silverstone, or the camera falling off at Detroit, but I won't, iirc it was two guys who did all the devolpment work on them, Bernie then came along at the end of the year and asked how much they had spent, they said a million, he gave them two and told them it was his invention now and to fuck off.

One of them was my mechanic for the day at Lydden Hill once, lovely guy, had nothing good to say about Bernie mind you

It was on Nakajima's Lotus through 1987.

The original F1 test's were done by Brabham then Renault with Renault entering it into a race for the 1st time in 1985 on a 3rd car for François Hesnault at the Nurburgring to test the camera under race conditions. When that worked they had it on Patrick Tambays car for the final few races.

There's some stuff about those early cameras here:
http://www.denisjohnsonfilmslibrary.weo ... page/64027

Through 1986 it was used on a few different cars before it found a permanent home on Nakajima's Lotus through 1987. Wasn't used much in 1988 (I think only once on a Layton House at Detroit) & from 1989 onwards the cameras were made smaller & put in the same sort of aerodynamically shaped camera housings we have seen since.

First time the onboard camera was tested was on Hesnaults third Renault in Germany 1985 IIRC.

Thanks, I only really knew about the Lotus, they had been fiddling for a few years though.

AUTOSPORT says that Alonso is off to McLaren. Announcement will be made once there is clarity about whom his teammate will be for 2015.

sorry for the Danes here, but I want to see Button in that other seat. Not Magnussen.

Well it has been a great silly season.

I think both Button and Magnussen deserve the seat and want neither of them to leave F1. Button has some more years in him and Magnussen remains to have a lot of potential. It would be a lot easier if there were three cars next year, but that won't happen.

Button has had his time tbh, he's also burnt Honda in the past (by that I mean they employed him because he was the next great thing, and didn't live up to the hype). The sensible choice is to put Button in the car but would you really want to do that when he maybe has only 2 or 3 years left and another driver approaching the swan song of his career too? Honda traditionally like to have one experienced and one young gun in their team, a conundrum for McLaren.
