We're holidaying in Italy next September and are going to try and make Monza on the 3rd, just waiting for tickets to go on sale.

I'm thinking of going to Monaco this year, only Thu and Sat so I'd have two question. What's happening on Friday and what's a good place to stay to you can easily get to Monaco? Would Nice still be good?

Thinking again about RedBull Ring.
It's middle of summer, last year I had some job issues,as a touristic worker it's hard to get free days through the weekend for me and 2 collegues. Shame I missed it last year, would have the place where I could see the Mercedes clashing and Perez crashing.

I think Friday has a GP2 race, but not sure what else. Nice is fine. Most of the towns along the south coast are on the train line that takes you straight to Monaco (I stayed in Antibes, near Nice). That's probably the easiest way to get to the circuit. It's only a short walk from Monaco train station to the circuit.

I went to Monaco for Thu-Sat. We sat in K2 on Thu which is an amazing spot. You could go down and be like 1.5m away from the cars just shooting out of Tabac right into your face. F1's sound is horrible like you don't even feel anything while when GP2 was racing, it literally hurt super badly in your ears. I mean a race car 1.5m ways just going full throttle. It's sad for F1. Friday I was on A1, the one inside of St. Devote. The view was really nice but you're lost since there's no TV screen and nothing. And you never know when the cars show up. I also went up to the casino which had a pretty nice view. Saturday we sat in the harbor on N which was crap. The cars are just shooting through swimming pool and that's it, plus no screen again. There's 3 in the chicane after the swiming pool but since we were as far away as you could be, no chance.
The heat was cruel because it was just HUMID! We ran into de la Rosa who casually walked around and the pit walk was horrible as they wouldn't let us walk through the actual fast lane but that tiny sidewalk behind the guardrail. We just wanted to get outta there as fast as possible.
Overall, it was an amazing experience. You can't take a lot of pictures and videos etc. but for the experiences, it's crazy!

We continued to Andorra and when we drove back, we saw Marquez' truck on the freeway around Montpellier and another Honda HRC truck. I guess they were going to Mugello. Just a little later I discovered an FOM truck on the freeway, also around Montpellier. Thanks to toll, we lost track of it and I still don't understand where this truck was coming from or going to. However, hours later we say this very truck again at a stop just outside of Grenoble  still no idea what this one was doing.

We ended the trip at Mt Blanc which is quite an impressive mountain.

I also had to drive 1500km in two days in France. Worst experience ever. Toll is super expensive, causes traffic jams all over, and apart from those traffic jams, we still had many more totaling at 75km ....

But on Friday night we got to drive around the race track in Monaco so that was fun.

The tolls there require you to stop and pay? :o

Thanks for your interesting story nevertheless.

If you don't have a telepass, yes. You stopp, pull a ticket and continue. Then, some time after you insert the ticket a pay. It's super expensive and not fun

A coworker of mine went there while on travel in Singapore, and loved it. Than again, he wasn't an F1 fan and got his ticket for free (found it on the ground near the track while accompanying a friend of his who was going to the GP). He said the grip was unreal on F1, and also enjoyed the whole show, but then again it was for free so who knows.

I went in 2012.
It was awesome.

Pros:
- the circuit is in the middle of downtown Singapore, you can take the metro from wherever and come out right at the track gates. Access is very easy, you are at your seat really quickly and there is no need to bother about parking, having to arrive 5 hours before the race, etc.
- all tickets include the general access, and there are standing zones where you are just 1 metre away from the cars going by at full speed. Incredible experience seeing the cars up close like this
- the sound with the V8s was incredible. Whenever the cars were driving, you would hear them anywhere in the city. And from up close, it was deafeningly loud! When they go under the tunnel, the vibrations and echo of the sound would make your whole body shake
- when I went the track side entertainment was great. I got to see Katy Perry, Maroon 5 and other cool things included with the 3-day pass.

Cons:
- it's expensive as fuck. I paid something like €185 for a 3-day pass on the cheapest grandstand tickets. General access at the Spanish GP for example runs at around €100.
- the locals know nothing (or at least knew nothing back then) about F1, so the stands were very quiet, not much cheering around.
- some of the grandstands offer limited views, the cheapest one for example allows you to walk over the tunnel entrance and see the cars right below you, but other than that you have just 2 slow corners to see the cars.

I seriously loved it, but I would not go again now that they have the V6 turbos. Sound is a big part of the fun in a street circuit, I think if I went again I would be very disappointed. But if it's your 1st race or if you don't care about the sound, then go!

Bumping this up, going to the Canadian GP this year! Grandstand at the turn 1 and 2 complex, because I want to see me some flipperz

Super excited already, this is one of the few venues that I really wanted to attend as a first F1 GP. I just regret I never went to a race before HALO, lol

When I saw the 2017 cars, I immediately booked tickets because those cars just looked badass. For this year, we got tickets for MotoGP

Thinking of going to the Barcelona tests again this year. To be the first to see the Halo in real life.
