I wanted to say the same thing. If you REALLY have the points record than it's alright, but this is just lame.

Much better than the number of points you've scored.

Terrible Alonso not showing tribute to someone he doesn't know and showing an accomplishment.

A few drivers running all four wheels over the kerbs again. I guess it's because the kerbs here are so wide.

Jenson, Sean and DC are cycling buddies. They do cycling challenges together when they're all at home (Monaco).

Ted pointing out that Red Bull moaned about tyres a lot and that really helped Red Bull.

But..so did everybody else. Mercedes complained a huge ammount too, and they changed and it should've helped but Mercedes have gone backwards a little bit. Meanwhile Lotus and Force India were completely sure the tyres were 100% fine, and very vocal about that too.

I'm also unsure on why people keep saying the tyres were unsafe. Under the conditions which Pirelli stipulated they should be run, they worked. It's when the teams abused them, they were unsafe. I sometimes wonder what situations we'd be in regarding points and race excitment if the tyres were kept the same, but the teams were stopped from running them in reverse, which was what caused the Silverstone failures.

can't completely agree there. Tyres were changed in time for Hungary with a young driver's test taking place in Silverstone to test them. Mercedes were not allowed to attend this test for reasons that need no further explanation, yet they came out on top with Hamilton taking a dominant win on the newer tyres. If they went backwards a little, I think it's not because of the tyres but rather because of the summer break and a shift of attention to 2014.

 that and the drivers being finally penalised for not taking track limits seriously.

I wasn't meaning that he should have an Edwards tribute. If they have no connection, honouring him is false. I'd rather he not do it and be honest.

I was more meaning that the points record thing is just lame, especially when it's a meaningless statistic (as many others are) given the change in points systems. (I realise Schumacher's statistic could be meaningless when you consider some of his seasons had double the number of races as in the 1950s or whatever, but at least the points scoring basis was roughly the same.)

I know that this track is completely generic and boring, but the one feature I do like is turns 5-7. The accuracy required to feed the car through what is a very quick chicane is awesome. It looks boring from the side of the track, but from the onboard the margin of error is basically zero. I do love that section of corners. The rest of the track I don't care for even a little bit.

Maldonado lost a wheel nut as has stopped at the entrance to pit lane.

The marshals are clueless.

Another fine for Williams? This time the wheel didn't get loose though.

Visa issues

Should be fun come Russia next year then, where getting a Visa is really nothing close to eating pussy.

Although it is known the fanbase there is huge, I can't help but fear that it takes place in the wrong part of the country. Then again, if the Moscow raceway is the alternative, I'm happy to give the Sochi race track a go.

I was talking to someone about that and they said it's a total nightmare already. They've never had to deal with anything like it before.

IIRC, you need a formal invitation from a person or a company, fill an application and get a migration card once you get there.

more than that. As a tourist you need:
1. international passport with validity of at least 6 months after date of departure
2. a visa in the international passport by the embassy, for which you need:
- an invitation of the hotel you will be staying at with exact dates of stay indicated
- proof that you have health insurance for the duration of the stay
- proof that you have travel insurance for the duration of the stay
- a filled in, printed and signed visa application form in which the printed borders can in no way be closer than 3 mm from the page's edge

- once on the plane and prior to landing, you will have to fill in a migration card in double form. One will be kept by customs, the other is to be kept by yourself in the passport and needs to be returned upon departure.

in case of a stay which takes longer than 14 days, the government needs to have advance knowledge of the exact nature of the trip and a schedule of your daily activities.

the passport and the migration card is to be kept with you at all times. Failure to do so can result in imprisonment and the permanent ban of traveling to Russia. However, I understand a copy for foreigners is accepted as well.

personally, I never encountered an ID check (and I've been there for more than 30 days in total no). Controls are mainly for the people of the Caucases, Uzbeks, Azeri's etc.

yes. no wonder it still feels so closed.

apart from that, don't expect people to understand English there. Many times I've seen Americans cursing in the metro because everything is in Cyrillic and they couldn't find their way.

I, on the other hand, love that they don't English-ise too easily and have quiet pleasure seeing those tourists struggle ("for fuck sake, in Paris and Berlin everything is written in English as well, what's wrong with these people").

I seem to recall reading back in 2011 that originally that section was a simple medium speed left hander & that it was Karun Chandhok who suggested they change it to what we have now.

Believe it was also Karun who suggested they widen the entry to turn 4.

not a big fan of the wide entries. Wide exits should be better, but then again they won't be. There is only one line where the grip is.

I despise turns 5-7. One fast chicane is fine, but having two in quick succession just seems so utterly redundant.
