Seriously I'm sick of this forum complaining about red flags.. Everytime the red flag has been pulled in the past 5 years it's been clearly understandable. Only mistake they make is waiting maybe a little too long to get things restarted, besides, but nothing wrong with being on the safe side.

My god some people around here just need to come out and admit they want to see a fatality.

I was only pissed when they stopped the QLF session this year in Australia when it could have been driven with intermediates, but no they yust waited and waited... and the they skipped it.
F1 aint Nascar, when a drop falls its red lag straightaway!!! WTF do they have the rain tires then??? Use them when the conditions are for them, damn it!!!

But otherwise when the red flag came it was ok... but Australia 2013 QLF was just crap....

Yeah they've gone for an interesting low down force setup.

So if it rains, they're screwed

Parc fermé rules, can't change a lot except front wing and tyre pressures I think.

What is the purpose of the full wet if you never allow them to race in those conditions? Nurburgring 2007. Everyone goes flying off at the first corner, yet the inexperienced Winklehock on his full wet tyres builds up a massive lead and keeps it on the track. Most aquaplaning comes from being on the wrong tyre at the wrong time. I agree, there are times when it really is just too wet to drive. We've seen it at Sepang and Canada recently. The time it takes to restart is just ridiculous though. I don't want to see people dying because of the conditions, but I would like to see them race in conditions that they do actually have a suitable tyre for.

People were aquaplanning on full wets in Nurburgring '07 as well.

I don't have a problem with a red flag. True, I think most of them (if not all) were justified. But I have a huge problem that they wait, wait, and wait, and wait some more to have the restart. Usually they restart behind the SC (why?) and for some unknown reason they keep the SC on track until it is almost a dry racing line. (why?) Or they just wait sooooooooooo long to restart that they can put intermediates on (which was I think even not allowed in one of the previous occasions).

The red at Nurburgring 2007 was the correct decision as turn 1 was literally under water. I think a part of the problem nowadays is probably the parc-ferme rules meaning that there is no longer the big setup differences between wet/dry setups we used to see. Pre-2003 teams used to make big changes to get the car suitable for the wet, Now after qualifying the setups are locked as cars go into parc-ferme with only minor front wing/tyre pressure setup changes allowed if conditions change on Sunday. Also think the spray plays a big role in drivers complaining about conditions, Doing 150mph+ with practically no visibility must be terrifying. Imagine doing around 200mph down the straght here when you can't see if someone's aquaplaned off & sitting in the middle of the straght ahead of you.

Was it Silverstone last year when they stopped Q2 and waited for the track to dry? Everyone had set a time by then so they should have just let the time run down, no one would have gone out anyway.

Perhaps tyre manufacturers can think about developing better full wet tyres? That Michelin tyre people talked about in the random F1 discussion thread is interesting, but it's not for heavy rain.

The problem in Australia was that it was postponed for like 10 or 15 minutes. Had they not done that, they would very well have been able to get it over with on Saturday.
