Shit, the race will be red flagged because of a little bit of drizzle. |

Ah...the 1950s. When racers were somehow simultaneously more stupid and more brilliant. |

I think for most of us (or at least for me, I probably can't speak for most of us) we grew up in an era of "well, those are the conditions, the race is on at this time, if you don't like it you can pull into the pits" and now we're watching an era of "omg it is our responsibility as race organisers to ensure track conditions are safe for racing, don't worry about risk guys, we'll sort it out for you and let you know when it's safe enough to go racing" I agree the overreaction on here is strong but I don't agree that every decision about wet racing has been right either. Mind you, most of the incorrect decisions imo have been putting/keeping the safety car out until it's pretty much intermediate weather. But then in a field with vested interests and some drivers saying it's dangerous while others saying its fine for racing, its no wonder they spend too long arguing about going racing rather than just pulling the SC in and letting the talent sort it out, the way it should be. Fully wet races aren't that great either. Monza 2008 wasn't fantastic, had about as much overtaking as a dry Monza race would give you today (but in the 2008 refuelling era that would been seen as a lot more ) and a few more spins. What we salivate over as racing fans is races that start dry and become wet because that gamble on tyre choice can make a hero out of even the smallest team and driver. |

Track was so wet, cars were sliding in the little kink before the hairpin. |

Barcelona '96 was arguably Schumacher's best race and a masterpiece of driving. Spa '98 was a survival race to the finish (The standing start was stupid though. They should have used SC like the year before). None of these legendary races (and a lot more) would have happened under today's compulsive red flagging. There sure is a fine line between bravery and lunacy, what I'm waiting from race drivers is to be just at that limit and a bit beyond. Leave the obssessive risk aversion to the rest of society, there's enough of it already. |

stimaro wrote: The soundtrack made me chuckle: Hymn by Vangelis is well known in Itay for being the soundtrack for Barilla commercials during the 80s, so it' quite fitting for a nosalgia video about something in Italy. If anybody has the chance, visit the high-speed oval. Pictures and videos don't do it justice Back to the race, local forecasts predict only a slight chance of rain during the race, the main front is expected between Sunday evening and Monday morning. However, at ths time of the year it's unlikely you're going to get light rain here. It's either a thunderstorm or no rain. The problem with rain at Monza is that with just moderate precipitation you get thick spray clouds with basically no visibility on the straights. |

That 4g side pod graphic on the McLaren is awful. It looks like a bargain price sticker from asda! Calado doing ok, that's good to see. The Russian kid is at the track, apparently saying he will be a race driver next season. I can't remember his name. |

Massa just missed green light, crossed red light instead and had to leave the car at the exit of pit lane. |

Wasn't Alonso at fault for stopping after the wall for a practice start. This is why massa had to slam on the brakes, Alonso shouldn't have been there. |
