The point being, if Grosjean is penalty worthy then so is Jenson. And in fact, Jenson's driving occurred at much higher speed which could have resulted in a worse incident.

There's just no consistancy at all. I half expected Grosjean to receive a penalty for that move, but to have two penalties in the race when other drivers get away with similar moves? Mad.

Interesting, I was not aware that the use of DRS was something they verified post race. Who is responsible for informing drivers they can use DRS?

Anyway, 20 second penalty and no change in the results ;)

Watch the helicam shot when they exit the previous corner. Jenson's driving was overly forceful and if they didn't make contact then it was very close.

I've watched it back but I'm not too sure what you mean? Button's on the kerb and gets close to Grosjean as he squeezes back onto the track. Or was there something else?

A fine only: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/109077

Reading the explanation it seems reasonable.

That was precisely it. Jenson could have / should have conceded at that point given that he was half off the track but instead he bullied his way back. Had Grosjean not jumped to the middle of the circuit there would have been an almighty incident.

Yeah, Jenson was forced off the track so he had the option of staying off the track and probably losing his car or regaining the tarmac...
And it didn't bring contact and Grosjean's complete lack of spatial awareness meant they were due to hit anyway so it didn't really change anything.

Still, I don't think either incident of Grosjeans was worthy of a penalty, especially the pass on Massa.
The last thing you want a driver to think of when he is threatening to pass the car in front is "oh, better not try to pass in case I run off the track here...", no you want him to fully commit to trying to get by.

FIA and its over penalising the excitement out of the sport. Annoying.

Dear F1 race officials, please fuck right off and let people fight like grown ups, the way they did for the past, what, 50 years?

I wonder if it had been anyone other then Grosjean that they might not have penalised the driver.

With the running off the track? Sadly a precedent has been set so the second his wheel left the track their hands were tied.

With the contact with Button? Probably...but the FIA has loved clamping down on racing incidents in their "someone must always be at fault" culture for ages now so as much as we roll our eyes and tut at them every time it happens, it's hardly surprising.

As it was being discussed here about moaning, Vettel complained directly to Kimi about not having enough room when trying to overtaking him and got just a laugh as reply.

And yet Vettel said on the BBC he'd much prefer Kimi as a team mate next year compared to Alonso...
(Like either's happening lol...)

So obviously this terrible rivalry is going to last a long time

It's obvious they're continuing to hold Grosjean to stricter standards.

Yep they sure are. Twice in the space of two corners he had all four wheels off the track trying to defend his position from Grosjean. Unfair advantage me thinks. Which begs the question, isn't that discriminatory against Grosjean? I hate to say this but wouldn't Lotus have legal grounds to sue the FIA for discrimination and loss of income?

Ok, everyone is going to hate me here but...when Vettel was penalised for passing Button like this, everyone except a select few said it was justified and he deserved the penalty.

I agree Grosjean got fucked, but...so did Vettel. It is a bullshit rule, but they've enforced it a couple of times.
