He's getting better and better though.

Even in 2011 he made a few mistakes in the races.

With an RB8 in 2010, Vettel wouldn't have won the title. But imagine a 2013-spec Vettel with an RB6...

Win is a win though and three straight titles mean dominance.

Like pointed out, dominance is something many people don't like. Even though I remember with Ayrton Senna it was quite different then, because he had a certain 'cool'. I was an Alain Prost fan, but most of my friends were cheering for Ayrton.

We had the same with the dominance of Schumacher, and during Alonso's 2nd world championship that was the start for a lot of people to dislike him as well because he dominated many races.

Vettel is the same thing. But he also has this thing, as long everything goes well, he seems like a nice guy, but when things are nog going his way, then he reacts usually like a spoilt kid. And the affaire with Webber when he was told not to attack didn't help either.

but then again, most of the best racers are bad loosers or are moaning when things are not going the way they want.

Is he the best racer on the grid? I don't know, we would only know if he would be in the same team with Alonso or Hamilton or Raikkonen.

11th and 12th for McLaren. They're modelling their 2014 car numbers, how twee.

I still don't understand all the hate for Vettel. At all.

He wins. Like Schumacher, Jeff Gordon, etc... any driver who had a domination period. It's unfair because they deserve their success, but that's how it is, people generally find underdogs more likeable than crushing winners.

I do agree with you though, even if nobody "loves" Vettel the way we love Sato, Kimi..., sensible people at least can only admire his talent and control.

I don't have a burning hate for Seb, not at all (and I suppose it was my histrionics at play earlier). Fair play to him on what was a very good drive today.

But it just disappoints me just how this season looks to be unfolding, I'm predicting that it's going to be a dominant second half for Seb.

Hope the marshal makes a fast and full recovery

Some photos of the injured marshal posted on this Twitter. Nothing too graphic but they do show a critically injured person.

Good grief.

Was very fortunate that that wasn't seen on TV as there was a straight-on shot of the crane towing Gutierrez' car up the pitlane.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

So after all this tyre faff, it's just been masking the fact we have another 2011 on our hands.

Sebastien Vettel 2013 F1 World Champion....

I really can't see anyone else showing the speed or the consistency to beat him now.
If he performs like he did today for the rest of the year, could have it wrapped up by...oooh lets say India?

Race was good enough behind him, as it was for most of 2011, so I'm not going all doom and gloom "this is worse than 2002/2004" levels either.

But I'm no longer a starry-eyed fifteen year-old, I'm a bitter, twisted 26-year old. I enjoyed 2002 because of the ignorance of youth, after todays race I turned off before the podium interviews because I couldn't stomach listening to the empty platitudes or the vacuous interviews afterwards. I just find myself frustrated after the races.

To misquote Cat Stevens "I'm too old, that's my fault"

I've gone the other way. Schumacher in 2002 was insomnia-curing, he just ran off into the distance every week with Rubens about 10 seconds down and the rest 20 behind that. Very little action anywhere in the field. I stopped watching halfway through the year.

At least when it happens today there's something going on on the track. And because it's much rarer, it allows us to appreciate the driver that's dominating when it does happen.

----------------------

Can someone provide a rational, logical explanation as to why Button is being paid $20 million a year?

Adrian Sutil is bitching about his penalty, but I'm finding hard to feel any sympathy. He never baulked Lewis / Fernando but at the same time never made any attempt to get out of the way for nearly a full lap, despite having multiple opportunities to do so.

I dunno, I've lost motivation for debate now really.....but I was under the impression Lewis was deliberately hanging back to ensure he got the DRS boost for the straight so Alonso wouldn't breeze past him.

But you know, rules are rules. F1 will always stiff someone over for not following the letter of the law without taking a moment to understand the extenuating circumstances.

I hadn't thought about it like that but then again, I never saw Sutil simply try and get out of the way down the back straight or toward the hairpin.
