I'm handing in a 10,000-word thesis on Friday, so I get to fully enjoy this Sunday's shenanigans.

Which reminds me. Gotta go! Stuff to do :p

And with F1 highlights during the evening having a viewing number of 80,000 (and with the race on a pay channel), if they get a similar amount of viewers that's not bad.

80.000 for the highlights  .

In know Sport1 got 200.000 viewers for a pay-channel (not bad I guess for Dutch numbers). Don't know if RTL7 will get the same numbers as last year, since they now don't have any advertising opportunity for the race during F1 races.

Indy 500 here is the only IndyCar event that shows on tv that doesn't get off due to football, and about ratings, they never reach a million I guess

Monaco on other way is treated just like another F1 race and have the same ratings as other races of the season

The only time IndyCar got on the news in the UK was when Conway had his huge accident and when Wheldon died.

The reality is that they only care about the massive shunts.

Monaco is bigged up as the blue riband event of the F1 season, along with Silverstone. (even though, having seen Autosport's figures, Monaco's only about halfway down the list in terms of popularity).

I couldn't see it, but I read that the drivers lost the football match 2-3. Of the F1 drivers Sergio Perez scored a goal. Another goalscorer was former DTM driver Maro Engel.

It's Indy Sunday, nobody cares about Monaco. I don't understand why they insist on holding these 2 races on the same day so often. Choose different dates you idiots, you're stealing each others spotlight.

In Europe much more cares about Monaco GP than Indy500. But you never understand it ;)

Don't worry, they are almost finishing the Odeon Tower(scheduled to July 2014), which will be the 2nd tallest building in the Mediterranean area with 170 meters of height.

It's also the most expensive meter/square of the whole world and you only need 256 million pounds to acquire your's spot ;)

Here's some pics of it:

So, soon you'll be able to watch the GP from Mattzel's 1,200 m² Duplex

Really ticked that I won't be able to watch this because of ESPN having rights.

Hope there are some decent streams.

There will be plenty of streams for the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

But this isn't the right thread to discuss that.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

They've gradually taken the challenges away over the years - removing barriers from the first corner and the swimming pool chicane, and ruining the entry to Rascasse - but it's still Monaco. I understand the argument for running Monaco and Indy on separate weekends, but at the same time it makes the weekend rather special. I love watching 2 big races on the same day. Monaco is the starter, and Indy is the main course. The Coke 600 tends to be the food poisoning that follows.

10 years since they did that :(

Imagine if they had the wall inside at St Devote last year, it would have been 1980 all over again

tbat building is sick. And seems to break completely with the style of Monaco (not that I'm calling Monaco's architecture stylish, lol).

Monaco's architecture has long been fairly disgusting though ... they're just trying to cram as many buildings onto that short stretch of coast as possible and most of them look rubbish and tacky, in my opinion. The old stone work, arches and balustrades were much nicer ... now it's little more than a rich Newport. Once again, the invention of concrete is to blame ...

Well, in Belgium even the Indy 500 is not shown. Nobody knows here in my country that this race is due this weekend. Only the really die hardcore racing fans know and will look for a stream to see the race.

But like some said, unless something spectacular happens it will not even mentioned on the news who won the race...

Monaco in the 60s was beautiful, if it still looked like that then it would be great, but the buildings of the 70s onwards (such as the demolition of the station and reconstruction of the tunnel to build a tossing gert ugly hotel) took away a lot of that ... parts remain of course, but the majority is a bit tacky and nasty, in my opinion.

Monaco is the only track left in F1 where you can follow the development of a city throughout the decades
