If you're a fan of the sport, you should be able to recognize a good drive from any driver who's done a great job that weekend, whether you like the guy or not.

If he crashes the next race, so be it, nobody's perfect :p

And no, I don't like every driver, I also have my preferences, but I don't have tunnel vision :)

If I've met a driver in person and he was nice and friendly, he gets pluspoints from me and I hope he does well in the future ;)

I can imagine people supporting drivers because of their nationality. But the Dutch of the last decade (or 2) have been so bad that hasn't crossed my mind yet (come on Frijns and de Vries...).

Frijns could be a big one. Still not entirely sure about De Vries.

I'm not dutch, but I always liked Verstappen a lot, he was very talented and could find some incredible performances, mostly in the wet. I recall the Malaysia GP in 2001, at some point if I'm not wrong he was 2nd, doing a very good job, but ended up in the 7th place. He also did some great races in 2000, Canada in the wet, Monza in the dry were both very good, the Canada race was fantastic, the way he overtook the other drivers were fantastic. The problem is that Verstappen was knowed much more by his crashes than by his performances, but he was a driver that deserved much more from his F1 days.

Talking about being a fan of someone, did anybody checked this already? I really like Kimi and Lotus know very well how to work on his image!

This might annoy some people but I'll eagerly cheer for GVDG and hope to see do a good job, at least untill someone, supposedly more talented, like Vries,Frijns, or so, comes along

That way, he will probably stays in F1 and that will be good for the economic health of Dutch media which covers F1.

I don't mean tv broadcasters but sites like formule1.nl which provides tones of absolutely awesome and free high resolution pictures even from winter testings and even when there wasn't any Dutch driver or team involved

And there are also couple of other nice and free websites from Netherlands which I make some good use. So, with a Dutch on the grid, the probability of those sites keeping up is much bigger

PS: damn Kimi, stop LOLing at an amateur woman at the wheel :p I hope Natalie does the same when Kimi makes some mistake

I'm feeling stupid: watched every Melbourne GP for 16 years but never realised how close it was to the sea.

that aerial shot makes the second straight look very short and the 'bending straight' leading onto the fast left/right very long.

thought I'd copy a viewpoint of mine from another forum.

Quote:
I am amazed how some top teams seem to accept mediocre results early on, just because last year there was either a disastrous start or because they think they will improve massively as the season goes on while the rivals will drop behind.

This is particularly true for Ferrari ("yeah, couldn't get much worse than last year's car, so we've got the championship in the pocket already basically") and McLaren.

Opposing view expressed by Raikkonen just two days ago, suggesting early form will be key to the championship.

what do you think of it?
