There's some great stuff coming out of the Hamilton\di Resta court case.

I'm guessing it's Anthony Hamilton, right?

Of course, Lewis Hamilton wont't show up in court, remember.

Well, Lewis isn't or wasn't a friend of Paul di Resta. And remember that di Resta doesn't do clubs and slashing, he's into something more seedy... the Tomas Scheckter kind of establishment.

I know it's the Mail, but because it involves court proceedings it is entirely without hyperbole.

Until today I had no idea this case was going on. Thanks for the details. Seems to be a lot of mud-slinging.

Holy shit, yes.

FIA's view on women really is despicable. That they have the line of models doing nothing but applauding when the drivers are walking to the podium is awful sexism. Sickens me.

Yeah F1's view of women's place within F1 is incredibly cringeworthy. And that's regardless of the fact that one of its teams is headed up by a female. Utter hypocrisy.

Was talking to the president of our FIA affiliated federation (in which I volunteer at) who attended the event and he told me that the intro video they did was pretty cool. If anyone finds it somewhere online I'd appreciate a link. He did tried to film it but they stopped him lol. the few bits he managed to get seemed hilarious with Schumi being told by a mafioso to round up the best drivers and get them to paris.

I disagree with FIA's view on women though. AFAIK they were there because of some moulin rouge theme crap that they had going on with it being Paris and all. The FIA actually encourage women to get into motorsport with their Women in Motorsport campaign, and having "worked" with a few of the women involved I can say they are well respected. :)

The only women at that event are wearing (Moulin Rouge themed ... but that's basically 'brothel themed') minimal clothing, or driver's girlfriends. That's it.

Grid Girls. Random Models up to the podium (as said above) and on it, just waiting to get soaked in champagne. F1's in the dark ages.

Picking a handful of women to support in a man's sport doesn't make up for this widespread disparity in roles.

What's wrong with eye candy? Male dominated sport = female eye candy. Watch a female singer perform on stage and she will have lots of half naked guys dancing on stage. Nothing wrong with that. And if more women would be more successful in motorsport, then perhaps it would change. But all this political correctness is ridiculous. It's not like these women were captured and were told to stand there, otherwise their families would be killed. The do it because they like doing it and modeling (in all its different ways) is an easy way to make money if you look good.

I wouldn't say there's actually much misogyny within Formula 1 from my experience (I mean, there's banter but that's not gender specific) because there's a lot of women in the paddock. But from the outside having that corridor of clapping women is just a bit awkward.

You need to open the sport for women, but you can't have them being given a free pass just for the sake of their gender. The reality is, with pretty much every sport, is that men are better than women. There are exceptions, but not many. I want the best 22, irrespective of gender, race etc, same with politics, business or whatever.

None of the women at that gala, or the women that clap the drivers on the way to the podium, were forced there by gunpoint.
