how cool musn't this be? anyone so lucky to have experienced it yet?

Absolutely not cool at all. That must be the worst kind of safety procedures I've ever seen. Seatbelts are WAY too loose.

I first saw that video some time ago as it was featured in Autosport magazine. I lol'd the first times they reached heavy braking zones. I believe the story goes that the belts were properly fastened but the passenger accidentally hit the belt release with their arms as they drove out of the pit lane.

Id say the banking was made flat once the baseball stadium was built after 92?

They actually took a lot of banking out for the 1992 race itself, it was pretty much flat then.

I don't know for that particular driving experience, but you usually have a device you can alert the driver with in case of a health issue or something. You certainly want to press the button if seatbelts behave like that mid-run !

A1GP had the chicane before the turn as well

is Hermanos that track where NASCAR had chicanes in the middle of the straight with some nasty (albeit 'satisfying') crashes resulting from it?

Those belts were never done up properly in the first place, if he'd accidentally unclipped them, they'd be flying around all over the place and so would he.

IIRC the button is the opposite way, a dead man's switch, i.e. when you take your finger off the button a light comes on in the cockpit, it's a bit hard to push a button when you're unconscious so it's designed in a way that if you do pass out, your hand will come off it naturally alerting the driver automatically to the potential corpse in the back seat.

The first year A1GP raced there they ran without the chicane, For the 2nd year they ran the chicane. Champcar ran the stadium section from 2002-2005 but used the chicane 2006/2007.

Given that F1 would have a good shot at filling the stadium (Thus bringing in extra revenue) I can see them running through there.

With a concrete wall (Doesn't even have any form of SAFER barriers installed does it?) & no run-off I think there's very little chance of them running through peraltada without something slowing them down before it.

Wasn't there also an issue with the grandstands down the start straght been built too close to the track which prevented fans been able to see the cars if they drove too close to it? I seem to recall Champcar drawing a line to prevent drivers using the full width of the track to enable fans to see the cars, I can't see F1 drivers respecting just a white line.

Those "chicanes" were almost wide open as well, so it was like a slalom coruse

With how popular Todt is, I doubt they'll need bribery.

If they are as corrupt as the IOC or FIFA/UEFA they'll still demand a bribe even if Todt slept with their wifes and daughters after shooting their favorite dog......

I have no issues with Todt, he's not personally getting involved in series like Mosley used to and just seems to be getting on with the job. I know people were going "ZOMG FIARRARI BIIAIAIAIAZSED!!!!1" when he got elected, and I haven't really seen any evidence of that
