Agreed, surely it makes as much sense to stay with a team he knows.

the front and rear wings made them look wider than today, plus almost all teams had great paintschemes, apart from Honda obviously :p

See what 2014 brings and then make a decision.

Honda. He has a lot of admiration for Senna and he wants to win in a McLaren-Honda.

McLaren do seem to be getting very good at hiring people to do the jobs they are best at. They hired both Sam Michael and Matt Morris who were both out of their depth to certain degrees at their old jobs and have been placed far more comfortably within their organisation. So long as they keep Prodromou as head of aero and don't try to rush him as TD or something similar, he should do well too. This attitude will help them rebuild far more quickly than Ferrari have.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I was about to say, in one word: Honda.

Big things are expected from their return to the sport, and we know from the past Honda like to have a special relationship with one driver, which would suit Alonso down to the ground.

It's all speculation but it makes a lot of sense.

Also every time I look back on the 2002-2008 era I still think those cars are ugly as hell.
Ridiculous aerodynamic extras all over the car, no smooth surfaces, grooved tyres.
No thanks.

There were some ugly cars but the MP4-20 looked amazing.

still better than the cars from 2009 onwards

but IMO F1 cars should be wider, with wider rear tires, nowadays cars are too lengthy and slim

F1 just got worse in terms of looks since 2002. The horrible wings these days are the icing on the cake. I've never really watched F1 for the 'beauty' of the cars though, there are other racing classes for that

What did you watch it for? I'm guessing it's not for the spectactle and excitement lol.

If I look away from the endless aerodynamic "flick ups" and other nonsense was a bit of an eyesore, the cars looked a hell of a lot better before 2009. I still haven't gotten used to the tall and thin rear wing and the monstrocity that is the current front wing. Besides, who could forget these two (in hindsight, with rose-tinted specacles, but the point still remains) beauties of unique engineering?

The anteater and the walrus.

Routine, and the spark of excitement which we all hope is going to come during the particular race we're watching. Initially I started watching F1 because it was basically the only racing I could see on television. The only event I cared about when I was younger was the Spa 24 Hours, but you have to do something with those other 51 weeks :p

I agree. Personally I didn't mind the endless aerodynamic "flick ups" either. It's what F1 was about at the end of the day.

All in the name of cost cutting and fake overtaking I guess...

Although having said that 2007 and 2008 seasons were pretty exciting anyway! The only thing those cars lacked was a V10.

But anyway...

I can't remember it exactly, but I think narrower front wings will be coming back next year. Although someone said they'll be ugly :/

I loved how the cars looked until 2008. They just looked fast. Same with NASCAR, it has to be said. Those twisted sister bodies until 2007 got a lot of flak for looking nothing like the production cars but they looked like they were ready to go at warp speed.

Did you just call the 2004 Williams a beauty?

out. OUT !!!

Best engineering is simplicity and smoothness.

I really enjoyed the 2008 season and all the gadgets that arose from the cars. F2008 was probably one of the best looking cars ever, IMO.
