I don't find the front end of the sidepods very sexy tbh.
For me the 1993 McLaren is about the best looking F1 car.

For me the mid 80s no airbox turbo cars will always look the best

Fuck you Balestre and your turbo hating agenda

Late 60's pre-wing era IMO. Not having wings really emphasises the bullet-with-wheels look, and I love the exposed engine and pipes. The resulting sideways and minor air action in the turns and over the crests just elevates it to insane.

every single discussion about best looking F1 cars always ends back here :flag:

I always wonder if it's just our nostalgia, because we were kids at the time. This would explain that late 90s or sometimes early 2ks gets mentioned, and that would correspond to today's young adults' childhood.

Can an old fart come here and confirm that mid-1990s is superior, even if they grew up in a previous era?

It's definitely nostalgia. There are plenty of people who argue that the V8s were the best-sounding engines, so it's always a moving target.

Anyway, here's my contribution for best-looking - the racing was crap, but every car looked different and colourful:

For me the looks of the cars are more than the liveries, the shape and style of them are important too. The skinny 1998 cars and particularly the ugly grooved tyres are a big detriment to the looks of the cars, annoyingly they'd just got a good thing going with the 1997 grid and then they ruined it

The racing definitely wasn't crap in 1999, still my favorite season ever.

I think I ended up getting used to the narrow track and grooves (I was young and impressionable!), but what I especially liked about 1999 was the amount of experimentation with the cars in terms of both shapes and details. A lot of the 1998 grid was just slimmed-down 1997 concepts, and things were a bit less varied in 2000. I think you could look at any 1999 car without colour and know what it is.

I like that pic, half a second before disaster. You wouldn't expect a thing if you don't know the story :8:

Exactly! The minimum required to strap a person to an engine and 4 wheels and go race.

Wow, this is a really revealing angle - what a find!

Have a look at Schumacher's right-rear wheel too. It's mostly obscured by Damon's left-front, but the camber is way off. I am sure the suspension is broken.

The whole 'turned in because he knew his car was broken' line suddenly woke up

Do people really need more evidence that Schumacher was a dirty, cheating bastard?
