A much worse era than the Merc or even Red Bull dominance

Fuel stops, cars finishing over 30-40 seconds apart, traction control, launch control, abs, grooved tyres and high amounts of downforce meaning the cars couldn't get anywhere near each other.
Oh yeah and to crown it all, you couldn't "adam and eve" James "I told you so!!!!" Allen on commentary :yuk:

F1 at its worst.

Funny that at those times, the least good looking cars were the Ferraris, the red was too light and Vodafone decals didn't matched too much the Ferrari.

On the flipside, Jaguar, Jordan and Renault had great liveries

...and the joint-largest winning margin (in laps, not time) at two whole laps for Hill.

IIRC Williams had already decided to replace him for 1997 at this point.

That was the first step towards Williams become irrelevant

I don't think it is implausible that Hill could have defended his championship in 1997. He definitely peaked as a driver in 96-97.

He said in his book being older was a disadvantage compared to the youthful Schumacher and the rest of the field, but also he really really hated the grooved tyres so yeah, 97 would've been his last potentially good season that Frank robbed him of

He was also a confidence driver, if Frank and Patrick would've shown him just a little faith, he'd have been a whole lot better, but Williams doesn't give a shit about its drivers lol
(Frentzen found out the same thing too tbf)

For such a terrible car, it still looks good.

Designed by Simtek. Originally for BMW to enter but they pulled out. The 1994 car wasnt that much different.
It looked good in black but better in purple. Too bad the car in both guises has such a negative story attached to it.

pretty much like those F1 cars from Gran Turismo 3 that had the same chassis from the Williams FW16 or McLaren MP4/5B but with the Polyphony liveries

For some reason, in the European version I had, there were only two F1 cars, one from 1988 and the other based on the 1994 Benetton with a high nose.

I know for a fact that the Japanese (and US possibly) version also had the mid-80s turbo era lotus, and a low nose 94 F1 that I was passionately looking forward to. I golded the whole goddamn game hoping to get it, but it was never delivered, only copies of the same ugly high-nose. I'm still mad about it 20 years later.
