Who would have thought it was going to be his last. And how it would turn down to him... :(

one of those famous crashes that you don't see how dangerous it was until you see it

Interlagos 1993

Andretti was atrocious. Crashed out 3/4 of the first races on the first lap, and then crashed out on the other on lap 4.

His hothead mentality probably made everything worse and he just had no patience or finesse, no methodical approach. He probably thought he was too good to need Senna's help too.

Andretti was poor in F1, but I wouldn't blame him for the Interlagos accident. Wendlinger had a little swerve at him. Andretti reacted by moving to the right, but Berger was already alongside and off they went.

Andretti overreacted though. Wendlinger wasn't going to hit him

Not sure what you're looking at, Wendlinger literally ended up with his right tires where Andretti's left tires were headed.

A lot of Andretti's problems were tied to the FIA limiting practice laps and constant commuting from the US. Not getting Senna's sets didn't help much either.

From what I can see, Wendlinger moves to the right slightly, at a predictable rate (i.e. common for F1 drivers at starts).

Andretti reacts and moves over way more than he needed to and at a very high rate of change.

It's a shame that he didn't do better. I think with different rules, better support from McLaren, and a better attitude from himself, he could have done much better. It was a pretty good car tbh.

Senna's best year was 1993. How he won 5 races I'll never know. Absolute genius.

I was listening to the Bring Back V10s podcast recently on Estoril 1993 and they suggested Senna's performances in the second half of the year were pretty average until Hakkinen came in. The car was better than it looked and it got given the upgraded engine after the first few races

they talk a lot about his start at Donington but at Montreal he was even better, starting from 8th in the dry

Wasn't that the first race of a car with a semi-auto gearbox with paddle shifters?
