Probably an unpopular opinion - I think 2003 is looked at with rose tinted glasses, made better by the fact that 2002 and 2004 were so terrible. It obviously had a few classic races, a good mix of teams at the front, and a decent title fight.
The problem is if you watch a lot of the other races from that season. Overtaking on track was often impossible and too much was decided in the pits alone. Silverstone and Brazil will go down as all time classics, but there were heaps of forgettable races. Not a bad year, but would I put it in my top 5? I'm not sure.

It was also the first time a dry hungary was watchable, and tbh it was pretty entertaining, so it had its suprising "everything I know about F1 is turned on its head" moments too....

I would personally never claim '03 to be among one of the greatest seasons ever. But I know for damn sure that it kicked '02's ass. I was there, man!

Isn't 2003 the last to date F1 season when a car actually run out of fuel (Frentzen in Hungary before his final scheduled pitstop)?

I guess it was Jaime Alguersuari in Abu Dhabi 2009, he missed box and had to do another lap, the sheets say it was gearbox so it might be my memory pranking me

there was also one time Massa at Spain was dropping a lot because Ferrari miscalculated the amount of fuel

Just for reference, here's Senna with the trophy.

Mate, you took me way back to the old TBK days, and my favourite thread back then: "Crash Photos".

We're very lucky nowadays to have footage of about any racing that happens everywhere around the world. Yet, there is something powerful, mysterious about crash pictures that a video just does not convey - especially in that era where pictures were way better quality than video (if any existed in the first place).
