Bueno Aires, 1956. Fangio taking the Lancia-Ferrari from Luigi Musso, in which was his only victory, shared with the home hero. In a car that Enzo called "a piece of trash" once he received from Lancia

When trying to find an image where you can easily recognize the circuit immediately that's a good one for Long Beach.

50 years ago - the 1973 Argentine Grand Prix.

Something random - this is the last Grand Prix to have a number of laps greater than 90.

And it's not a track layout they've used in the last 40 years or so

given that Jabouille passed away yesterday, very appropriate to put his first F1 ride, the RS01

time to feel old, 20 years since Ferrari failed to finish on the podium after 53 consecutive podium finishes

That race felt like 2000x more exciting than it was after such a bad 2002

The ferraris looked like they were going to dominate again, then one fell off and the other fell apart lol

Good times.

Kimi should have won that race from the pit lane but had some pit speed limiter glitch and had to do a DT. Then Montoya spun away the win.

I'd like to take this opportunity to raise a point about the 2003 season. Am I crazy, or is there a general sentiment out there that this was a boring season? Because like codename says: coming off the utter and complete domination that Ferrari laid down in 2002, 2003 was an absolute barnburner. Right? Surely my memory can't be that wrong?

No, it was a diamond in the rough of two boring seasons

I mean, it was championship wise, some of the races could be the usual fuel saving, sprint between pit stops parades, but you had a good few legit great races in there too (topped by Silverstone of course, where it seemed everyone had to pass everyone else about 3 times due to the random SCs)

Maybe people just look at the era and see Micheal winning 2000-2004 and don't look at it more closely to see how close 2003 got at the end (A bit like how they write off 2014-2020 as "merc dominance" and don't realise 2014-16 were close seasons between the team mates and 2017-2018 had a ferrari that was occasionally faster depending on the track, just operationally a bit weaker. Maybe the same with 2010-2013 too when only 2 of those seasons were poor and one (2012) was the best in F1 history)

As I always say, there's more to a good/bad season than just the title race, thoe that just look at the championship result and make their decision based on that are missing out on some great seasons.

2003 was a good exception on that period, we had all time classics like Interlagos, Silverstone and Suzuka, Kimi driving his finest and almost clinching the championship, Montoya doing fine but being put away in the fight by Williams. Also the Renaults doing their antics with launch control and winning a race

The only bad part was Bridgestone gaming the tires and the absence of Spa

even the race famous for being boring back then had their moments in 2003

You sure you´re not thinking about 2004? 2003 was a very good season.

I've definitely seen some wierdos claim that '03 was boring. I know, it makes no sense whatsoever.

Yeah, I love 2003 so much, it was even more awesome following 2002, but it was a 3 team battle for the championship, how often do you have that? For sure the season that I have the strongest adrenaline rush just by remembering the championship battle.
