65 years ago Fangio clinched his record 5th title in what was perhaps the greatest performance for a driver in history, overcoming over a minute deficit to win at the Nurburgring

At the time was massive domination, 30 years ago Nigel Mansell clinched the world championship while the McLaren crew celebrates Senna's victory. It was also the first championship win for Renault who went on to dominate through the 90's

This Hungarian GP was also the 500th GP start for Ferrari and the final one for Brabham

Dodging goats and cruising through small villages in the Adriatic coast. Jo Bonnier at the longest track in F1 history, 65 years ago. Pescara GP

also a nice fact that usually happened in the races of yesteryear
Quote:
In the race itself, Brabham ran out of petrol on the very last lap. Wanting to get the car out of the way, he freewheeled into the forecourt of a filling station. Like all the commercial premises bordering the circuit, it was closed for the day. But suddenly, to his surprise, a man leapt out of the kiosk, gesturing his willingness to help. With a few litres in the tank, Brabham was able to resume his run to the chequered flag in seventh and last place.

Pace flew to fourth in the 1976 German GP. Brabham boss Eccleston was convinced his charge was the team's future until his untimely death

Quote:
After showing promise at Surtees, Pace joined Carlos Reutemann at Brabham during 1974.

The Brazilian demonstrated his talents early in 1975 with Gordon Murray’s iconic BT44B, winning his home race in round two and taking pole next time out in South Africa. A lack of development hurt Brabham as the season progressed, but Pace still finished a solid sixth – with Reutemann third – in the final standings.

As Reutemann started to lose interest in the Alfa Romeo-powered BT45, Pace picked up the cudgels in 1976. Reliability was poor, but Pace’s attitude pleased the team and boss Bernie Ecclestone was convinced he was a future great.

The revised BT45B would prove to be more competitive in 1977 and Pace finished second in the Argentinian GP season opener, but he would not live to fulfil his potential. Pace was killed in a light aircraft crash in Brazil that March.

“If Pace had lived, I would not have needed Niki Lauda,” said Ecclestone in Alan Henry’s book Brabham: The Grand Prix Cars.

Love how, if you were to draw a line across the car using any straight surface, no other straight surface would be parallel with it. Lotus build quality at its peak :D

the early 90's was quite the pinnacle of chassis design, it was quite harmonic and with great liveries

35 years since Pironi passed away in a powerboat crash

Here in one of the best combinations, the Ferrari 126C2 with the double wing at Long Beach

I always wonder if it's just our nostalgia, because we were kids at the time. This would explain that late 90s or sometimes early 2ks gets mentioned, and that would correspond to today's young adults' childhood.

Can an old fart come here and confirm that mid-1990s is superior, even if they grew up in a previous era?
