After we've finally recovered from the fact that Felipe Massa actually managed to score a podium, we move on to the imaginitively titled Korean International Circuit

Image

Not only does the track have so soul, it has no Seoul. The Koreans, in their infinite wisdom decided to build the track around an invisible city in the middle of nowhere that it is impossible to reach. So impossible in fact, that cleaners haven't managed to find their way there yet. For a country and market that would have been good for F1 to break in to, it's both annoying and amazing they could get everything so badly wrong.

Fortunately the long term forecast points to a dry race. Fortunate because 2010 showed us the drainage is crap.

Times BST (as much I can make out)

FP1 2am
FP2 6am
SP1 3am
Qual 6am
Race 7am

It's a BBC race so at least Eddie's shirts will brighten up the incredibly dull surroundings.

Fucking 5-Star Post.

I wish someone would at least make the track for rFactor or something as it is supposed to look, with the marina and the city surrounding the track.

Korean GP circuit still doesn't have any proper accommodation hospitality for F1 staffs! They stay the weird hotels which make them horny.

So...staying at the weird hotels MAKES them horny?

Race is at 7am BST. Lord knows why they've done that with both Japan and Korea.

I actually quite like the layout (except the pointlessly lengthy straight) but the surroundings are indeed terrible.

hmmm, I'm not sure if I understand. Quali at 7 AM CET and GP at 8 AM CET (one hour later), right?

I'm looking forward to seeing this track again as it will be surrounded by skyscapers, highways, UNESCO monuments and grandstands with a capacity of 200,000 fans.

Maybe this is the year where someone will lose it in that final section with the concrete all around?

Some of the teams hotels in recent years were converted brothels. It's where the comment from taki comes from.

the only 'good' thing about this place are the gridgirls, who seem to have moved out onto the circuit after their brothels were converted into hotels.

This track is another case of a nice track built in the wrong place

It seems this time we won't see a single rain drop all over the weekend, but the wind is likely to be strong. I wonder how Alonso will react after his start crash at Suzuka. The championship is open now, all the difference is gone and Alonso is in deep trouble now.

We can only hope.

I personally love this track, I just hate the fact it's in the middle of nowhere.

SuperGT should run here.

That or have F1 run the Seoul track from GT4

I actually quite like this track. And its unintentionally unique surroundings. I still have fond memories of GOIN MUDDIN 2 years ago.

Nice track but I dislike the turn 3-4-5 complex. I like the surroundings.

This track is definetly one of the worse, If not the worst. It exceeds everything I knew about bad layouts. South Korea deserved a much better racing circuit. You got so many weird and blind corners, this track is a headache.

No wonder they called the Gangnam style guy to sing on there...it's probably the highlight of this event.

For some reason, especially 2010, with the weather being grey, it's how I'd imagined a race in somewhere like Poland under Communism.

Also, people are going to think that I've lost it with this comment, but the long straight annoys me because it feels just too straight.

I really wish someone would compile all of your amazing posts into one thread, perhaps print a book even. The utter unintentional hilarity from the total shit you write is just immense.
