it's popular belief that it's easyer to make a faster driver stop crashing than to make a more reliable driver go fast. I think the better option for grosjean it's to change team. Maybe a team like Sauber or Williams were he probably would have less pressure.

The thing is, all of his contact has been on lap one, bar one (which was Lap 2!).

Nabbed this from Atlas:

Europe 2009 - collision with Badoer - first lap
Italy 2009 - contact which damaged wing - first lap
Belgium 2009 - crashed into Button - first lap
Australia 2012 - didn't back off when Maldonado had line - second lap
Malaysia 2012 - collision with Schumacher - first lap
Spain 2012 - contact with Perez - first lap
Monaco 2012 - collision with Schumacher - first lap
Britain 2012 - contact with Di Resta - first lap
Germany 2012 - ran off the track, took out Senna, Massa - first lap,
Belgium 2012 - collision with Hamilton, Alonso - first lap
Japan 2012 - collision with Webber - first lap

I think (some) of those incidents are unfairly written, you cannot blame Grosjean for them. Saying he took out Senna and Massa at Germany is utter bullshit. Same for the comments with Maldonado at Australia, Monaco with Schumi and Belgium 2009. And just to prove the point about Monaco this year, the actual perpertrator that day did the same thing running to turn one today with the other Lotus and paid the price.

That said, after Monza he said the ban had made him stronger, which is clearly not the case with post race comments made today. His attitude needs to change, or he should kiss good-bye to his F1 nee racing career.

That's why in the article I wrote I said it's unfair to blame Romain for everything.

I haven't read you're article yet, I've only just watched the race but was pointing out the obvious faults of whoever wrote that sheer toss for Atlas F1.

About Grosjean: I think today's incident was worse than what he did in Spa. The result was bigger in Spa with multiple cars involved, but Alonso has also done that same move twice this year (Monaco and today). This can happen, you think you're past someone or you just didn't see the other car in your mirrors. But today he just runs straight into the back of Webber. He was only looking at the Sauber he explained on BBC. That's a really dumb error, and something he has a problem with. After the first few laps he races fine, but on lap 1 with lots of cars around him he can't cope with all the visual data it seems.

Problem is that Grosjean didn't retire today and the stewards gave him the worst punishment they could give during a race (maybe a black flag would have been better). If he had retired I'm sure he would have gotten a 10 place grid penalty for Korea or a second race ban.

Maldonado has been error free since Grosjeans' race ban, that punishment seems to have a bigger effect on Maldonado than on the driver that got punished. He's started behaving because he knew he would have been next. (cue Maldonado doing something stupid in Korea to prove me wrong :D )

Meanwhile, McLaren is attacking the record of Ferrari who scored 55 times in a row. McLaren now have scored in the last 53 races.

Suzuka is so great on it's own. Nothing special happened in FP1 but still if flew so quickly for me and the 90 minutes seemed like less than half an hour.

Felipe seems to be on it this weeked, he was very aggressive on the onboards.

I wrote this just after FP1. Should Sky hire me as a pundit? :beard: I could also settle for a gig in F1zone, but would have to pay a lot of money phil

:p

While I hope McLaren will beat this record (even though it means nothing), the current record from Ferrari is obviously way more impressive because of the old points system and the fact that it consists of 53 podiums!

Is there any footage of Senna hitting Rosberg, other than the angles shown in the race broadcast, none of which were very clear. At least from what I saw, his penalty seems very harsh for what was a 1st lap concertina incident.

Georgie Thompson is worse.

Sky needs to replace Pinkham/Thompson with Natalie Sawyer and Hayley McQueen.

Pinkham is fine. Thompson should never have been on the show in the first place. Drunk driver on an F1 show. Clearly there because she's small - so makes Ant look less dwarf like, and has tits..
