How exactly can you put grass in the middle of the street?

That doesn't conform with FIA Grade 1 circuit specs. Actually goes completely against it, since you have to have raised kerbs, which they've specifically tried to get rid of since they have a tendency of making cars fly. So, without creating raised sections, how do you place grass in the middle of a street?

The curb Webber rode over was raised. have the grass the same height as the kurb. Actually almost all the curbs on any circuit are raised to a degree.

How about a rule clarification that says if a driver squeezes you into the outside of a run off zone (not the inside) you're allowed to overtake him? Ultimately it's the long way around either way, more difficult because it's not the optimum line anyway, and it's very easy to justify squeezing. If you give up half way through the move and just run wide on purpose, that's simple, but if you stay alongside the car as long as possible until you reach the boundary of the circuit, that's squeezing.

The Webber Koba situation would've been very clear, the Vettel/Button situ at Hockenheim would be clear. Aside from speed bumps like at the Monza chicane's (which are a huge flip in waiting on their own) there isn't any geographical solutions I can see. Artificial grass, well Vettel was driven onto that at Hockenheim and still cleared Button.

I completely agree with all of those points. I feel if it wasn't Koba, who is very popular, then people wouldn't be so quick to try and suggest solutions for Webber.

I agree with you for chicanes that come after a 300+ braking zone, but they won't flip at the exit of slow turns/hairpins and that's where the battles take place (except the occasional Vettel/Alonso insanity, lol).

And again, real grass, or anything that has much less grip than asphalt. Given that asphalt is the most grippy material on earth, it can't be that hard to find, does it? Hockenheim obviously chose the wrong material.

Also agree on the rule proposal, but it would be easier to kill the situation completely by not designing tracks with faster lines outside the white lines then following up with circumvoluted rules. It's completely ridiculous. This has never been an issue on real racetracks (understand, pre-2002)

Hockenheim doesn't need all that tarmac runoff there. Grass would suffice.
