10$ on whoever replaces Grosjean will cause a monumental start accident. |

Is it just me or every other race is sponsored by Santander? Their billboards and ads are plastered all over F1. I'd like some more local content, a British or Italian "Santander" GP is just ridiculous. What's next, the Santander Japan GP ? |

historic track but in my honest opinion: track destroyed by first chicane (before 2000 was infinetely better) very short race (as a photographer: crap for photos) great racing happens extremely rarely, although I enjoyed the HAM-SCHU battle last year very fast track, but does that really matter with today's cars? these are some of the reasons I have never warmed to Monza. |

There's always massive catchfencing in front of the fans, although I remember Spa had some holes cut out for taking photos. The newer circuits sit you miles from the track, because of all the run off area. It's why I rarely bother going to Silverstone for any events. I'd rather stand on the GP loop at Brands, or anywhere around Snetterton. A car might fly over the fence towards me, but at least I can get a good photo of it. |

Monza, great and unique circuit with fine history. Monza, barely provided one good race in over 20 years. |

I've just seen my photo's that I took in Spa. This one has been taken with a €150 camera with no specials, in normal spectator zone: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/83 ... 912mf.jpg/ So I can't complain about Spa |

True, modern gearbox rules and puny engines with low rpm limit means that Monza is not as fast as it used to be. I remember the days when 360km/h was achievable and because of low downforce, cars really struggled to find grip during the braking for the old 1st chicane, which some drivers could really jump through faster than the others. Sadly, this was reprofiled by Tilke, yet another upgrade that made the original track worse. But the new 1st chicane is not that bad (compared to new Hockenheim, for example), it provides some overtaking at least. I don't buy kals saying that it has produced just ONE good race in the last 20 years. Where have you been during that time? 1992 Senna wins his last race with Honda, lots of mechanical failures with only eight drivers taking the flag. 1993 a pile-up at the start changed the game dramatically. Senna had the accident with Brundle. Prost's engine let go on last moments of the race. Fittipaldi took the checkered flag in a style which has not been replicated ever since. In 1994, we had very dramatic first start, when Johnny Herbert's fast b-spec Lotus was taken out in 1st chicane after a good qualifying performance. His spare car was a-spec, a useless junk that underlined Lotus' for the 90's and put them out of business in F1. In 1995 we had great drama with Hill and Schumacher taking them both out in 2nd chicane. In 1996 Alesi had his amazing start from 6th to first on the main straight with his Benetton. Hill retakes his lead in Ascari, only to retire after a mistake in 1st chicane later on in the race. Schumi won it for the Tifosi and it was the last time that Ligier scored points. 1998 was also very dramatic race with Häkkinen taking amazing start, leading the race, spinning after a brake failure and still managed to nurse the car home in 4th place. 1999 Häkkinen made his infamous mistake in the 1st chicane, throw away his steering wheel while car was still moving and wept a few tears of frustration, giving the victory silver plated for Heinz-Harald Frentzen in Jordan, while Mika Salo came home 3rd for the cheer of Tifosi crowd. 2000 The awful start crash and Schumacher braking in to tears after a tie with Senna's record of wins. 2001 The first F1 race after 9/11 and Zanardi has just lost his legs. Montoya took his first win with a sold drive. 2004 The fastest Qualifying lap ever 2005 The fastest top speed ever, the fastest race ever (ok, it wasn't very interesting race in the end) and no retirements for the first time since 1961 Dutch GP. 2008 Rain madness, that was controlled by Vettel, Kovalainen following him closely. 2009 Hamilton's attack that ended in tears. 2011 Pile-up and some good battle for podium places. Sure, the last decade has not been all that glorious and maybe it's because of the "upgrades" done after 1999, but there's been some good, memorable races during the last 20 years at Monza. |

Those races may have each had incidents and pockets of excitement but those moments don't make a great race. And yes I was being OTT. However in all of those about the only races plus a few more the only races that have been decent at Monza (to me) have been 1991, 1993, 1995, 2004 and 2008. |

2003 was decent too, until they caught on Frentzen |
