"SENNA"
The Legend Of The Greatest Driver Who Ever Lived

- COMING SOON TO A CINEMA NEAR YOU!!

OFFICIAL JAPANESE RELEASE TRAILER:

A conversation with James Gay-Rees, the Producer of "SENNA"
======================================================
http://pankfilm.wordpress.com/2009/06/1 ... -gay-rees/

The story of the monumental life and tragic death of legendary Brazilian motor-racing Champion, Ayrton Senna. Spanning the decade from his arrival in Formula One in the mid 80's, the film follows Senna's struggles both on track against his nemesis, French World Champion Alain Prost, and off it, against the politics which infest the sport. Sublime, spiritual yet, on occasion, ruthless - Senna conquers and transcends Formula One to become a global superstar. Privately, he is humble, almost shy, and fiercely patriotic, donating millions to his native Brasil and contemplating a life beyond motor-racing. Yet he is struck down in his prime on the blackest weekend in the history of the sport, watched live on television by 300 million people. Years on he is revered in Formula One as the greatest motor racing driver of all time - and in Brasil as a Saint.

So is it more of a documentary than anything?

That's fine by me - the trailer for it looks really very well made, and supposedly they've managed to edit Ayrton's comments so it sounds like he's narrating the thing. Can imagine this being something I really want to go and watch.

The movie was shown to a selected list of motorsports and F1 journalists during the British Grand Prix weekend a few weeks ago including F1 commentator Martin Brundle, Jeremy Clarkson of "TopGear" and James Allen (idiotic ex-ITV comentator) who all gave it a resounding thumbs-up!

The film itself is a full-length feature documentary telling the story of Ayrton's life through race footage, interviews and some previously unreleased private footage from his family with Ayrton himself narrating the story of his life.

Apparently Buster it will only go on limited release (one cinema per state?) over in the US but no dates as yet.

The film's global release will premiere over in Japan on October 8th 2010, then it opens in Brazil & South America with the rest of the world to follow afterwards. So pity me and the rest of Ayrton's UK fanbase who will have to resist temptation and wait until Friday June 3rd NEXT YEAR to see it! :yuk:

You'll probably have access to a cam record before 2011 but still I'd rather see it on a proper cinema.

Pretty daft that they're forcing most of us to see it illegally.

I doubt limited release means "one theater per state", that sounds more like a guess on the part of SpiritofSenna.

It will probably just be released in the largest markets like any other limited release film. This usually means New York and Los Angeles. There's no way it would be released in anything other than the largest cities so for some people, it will simply be impossible to see.

I was joking Paul though half-heartedly because if that were the case it would be a sad day indeed for all Ayrton's US fans. :o

I highly doubt we'll get it down in this part of the world.... might be lucky for some obscure cinema to play it once or something
