Maybe Kanaan and Barichello will do that. They changed helmets for this special day in the last few years.

IIRC Barrichello had a helmet which colours changed according to ambient temperature some years ago.

CN means mid-race, not with another driver before the event.

Hats off to the driver who manages to do it in less than 4 seconds. It would probably require two additional mechanics.

Shhhh lets not discuss my joke idea in any great depth lest the powers that be hear of it and think it a great way to "spice" up the racing!

They'd probably combine it with a mid-race press conference too! :p

All they need is an interuption long enough for a driver to change his helmet, like a red flag period or a Mclaren pitspot

I fail to see what is so special about using these special helmets considering when most drivers use their own special helmet it doesn't become so special anymore.

I'm against it too. Among the drivers who do that the most is Vettel and I find it so stupid keep changing helmet designs every f*cking time you win a race....helmets are like the second soul, the face of drivers inside the car...it's ridiculous If you start changing all the time. And I'm even against these ultra decorated designed paint schemes you see out there, it's so kitsch and tacky. I think we need more classic designs, helmet with simple lines like we used to see in a not so distant past.

The exception I do to Perez is really obvious, one time or another, changing it for a special events it's positive, but what made it so cool is the nature of it...so different and unexpected.

That's Zolder

I hope he learned the lesson since then, that's unacceptable from a pro race driver. You don't decide to ban a driver for life unless the offence was really obvious.

It was a practice session, so I doubt it.

Bit of a disingenuous article, tbh. It's something that happened 7 years ago, and was quite major news at the time because he got an 8 month ban for it. It wasn't hidden away. In the intervening time, I think he's proved that he can drive around Monaco without attempting to recreate Carmaggedon.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I knew about the Zolder incident, but not about his Monaco crash.

I remember of that Monaco crash, back there we even have some news in Brazil saying that if its really went ahead his future in F1 would be over and he should find a new series, but then a year later or 2, he was back there, but at the time the accident happened the organizers got really mad at him.

I remember of the Monaco crash but didn't know it was Maldonado. Bad on him.

In other (pathetic) news

Quote:
Whitmarsh: Hamilton deserves Monaco win
23 May 2012

Martin Whitmarsh is confident that McLaren can return to winning ways in Monaco this weekend, with Lewis Hamilton hoping to win his first race of the season. If the 2008 World Champion is able to repeat his Monte Carlo success of that year, he will make Formula 1 history by becoming the sixth different winner in as many races.

“He is in that frame of mind and he deserves it,” Team Principal Whitmarsh is quoted as saying by The Daily Mail. “No doubt about it. So we have to work hard to make sure he has a good car, that we don't make any mistakes and he is in a position to fulfil his potential at a circuit where he would like to win again.

“We go into Monaco - somewhere where we've been very strong, we've won more Grands Prix there than anyone else - and we go there with the belief we can win. But anyone who makes predictions at the moment in this sport would be nuts. It is virtually impossible.”

Whitmarsh was then asked why the current specifications of Pirelli tyres are causing widespread headaches throughout the paddock.

“With these tyres people get frustrated with them,” he replies. “They're difficult, challenging, as we've suffered and been frustrated with them, but they are contributing to an extraordinary season. In trying to understand them there's no magic. You have to work hard, look at the data, study it, try to effect and control and deliver what you want to make sure you get the best out of them.”

In Monaco, the red-marked Super Soft compound will be raced for the first time in 2012; the Prime compound on this occasion will be the yellow-marked Soft and the combination will remain the same for the Canadian Grand Prix in a fortnight’s time

why would he deserve to win Monaco? He deserves to win a race yes, but this one? It annoys me.
