I know he is responsible for all the deals with the tracks but does he also have a big say in when the race is held?

It's pretty damn convenient that the race coincides with the London marathon. That date was known for a long time and it's very assumable that his girlfriend didn't decide to participate just last week.

If Bernie had influence on the calender he made sure he had a reason not to go....

Well Bernie only holds 10% ownership in FOM. To suggest he still runs everything is just ignorance really. He is the face at the track because that's what he's good at.

And because he's the face and one of few that claimed it's very safe he should have been there......

Trying to focus on the few positive points of this weekend, not sure if I should name it like that... But they are running on the 'normal' layout again.

It's actually the FIAs responsibility to declare it safe. And they did.

and their face (Jean Todt) where is he today, tomorrow and sunday??

And Bernie himself declared it safe as well. By not attending he devalues his own comments.

Force India might skip FP2 so that they don't have to travel in the dark. Could be why they used soft tyres in FP1.

Really? Maybe that's why one of the people of FI had a conversation with Bernie and the chairman of the track. That's what Crofty said on Sky. Maybe they lend the team some extra bodyguards on the way back so they can drive in FP2?

BUT... IF they attend the GP they would travel back in the dark as well? (unless they expect problems after the "Friday Prayer" - aka some speeches to make the crowds go mad).
