I'm sure Robert already knows, it's his deluded management & fans that can't see the wood for the trees.

I hope he can get himself into sportscars, or something else. If he loves driving, I hope he can get something. But he's now been out of F1 too long that even if he did make a full recovery, he's old news - other new boys have come along and filled the gap. It sucks but that's how it is.

To be fair, Kimi was out of F1 for longer than Kubica has been, and he is doing alright so far.

Yeah, but Kimi didn't have his arm cut in half by a guard rail.

I assume ellis was talking about a scenario where Kubica makes full recovery.

But Kimi is a world champion and never left the world of motorsports at all. He's also incredibly popular, and very marketable because of that. Whilst Kubica is overall well liked, he isn't a household name, and hasn't driven in a couple of years. Even if he was announced 100% fit tomorrow, the chances of teams even looking at him are slim now.

I hope he does come back. I really hope he makes a complete recovery and then does get another chance, but I just don't see it happening.

Oh, you look at it from that perspective. i thought you meant that he wouldn't do any good.

If Kubica was able to make a miraculous recovery by mid-season I don't think Lotus would hesitate twice to drop Grosjean later this year or perhaps for 2013.

LOL no chance, it's far easier to calm down a quick but erratic driver than replace him with a out of practice, scarred and battle worn one, wood for trees, wood for trees, even if Kubica run into the Lotus pit and lifted Grosjean out of his car with his bad arm they wouldn't be that naive as to instantly dump Grosjean.

Who said instantly? lol I'm not talking about a few races into 2012 here. I'm saying by the end of the year or perhaps in the winter of 2012. It doesn't matter if one is quick but erratic and the other is rusty, its a matter of getting points. And if Grosjean doesn't improve his race craft and keep his nose clean, Lotus might be forced to go back with Kubica if he is 100% healthy by this summer.

To be honest I think they're more likely to put D'Ambrosio in the car then, and that's with (almost) all my chauvinistic feelings aside.

I don't see why there's even a question over Grosjean right now. The incident in Melbourne was a racing incident, same with the bump with Schumi yesterday. In reality his only mistake was to aquaplane into retirement. And given that Vettel, Button, Senna and a whole bunch of other drivers spun or made mistakes in the conditions, I think you're being harsh to suggest he needs to pick up his performance.

Kubica and Lotus are done. There's nothing there anymore.

Correction. I'd like to see Robert still in F1 and wish he didn't have his accident, but he did and he won't return. End of.

: The guy in your avatar crashed out of four of his first five Formula One races. Within the same season he won a race and was one of the revelations of the year. Jumping to conclusions and thinking he'd be replaced is silly. He's getting the full season at least and if anybody will replace him it'll be D'Ambrosio not Kubica.

Not every rookie is Lewis Hamilton. Replacing Grosjean, Vergne, whoever after half a season would be incredibly stupid. Grosjean just needs a single race to put it all together, he's obviously incredibly quick, and anyone whose watched him FIA GT/GP2 knows he has plenty of racecraft.

First of all I'm fine with Grosjeans performances so far. He's very inexperienced at the moment and so his mistakes are understandable. However *if* he continues the rest of the 2012 making mistakes which cost the team points and landing DNF's for no fault of the car, then I don't think its out of the question that the higher ups at Lotus may start thinking about Kubica in 2013, if he turns out to be healthy going into winter testing. I realize thats a big if. But if he is healthy why wouldn't you go back to him in 2013...
