Speaking of gearboxes, Kimi's is fucked after his off track moment in Oz. It means that he cops a 5 place penalty tomorrow.

Massa confident of large Saturday gains

Having spent Friday's practice sessions evaluating a host of setup configurations, Felipe Massa has been left in a positive frame of mind about his and Ferrari's prospects for the upcoming Malaysian Grand Prix. Running a different programme to team-mate Fernando Alonso, the Brazilian is sure of making major gains overnight.

"Fernando and I were on rather different programmes from each other and that is the main reason for the difference on the time sheet," Massa commented. "In the afternoon in particular, we went in completely different directions which in my case did not work, but at least it allowed me to understand a few important things about the handling of the car."

Despite the initial handling struggles, Massa is certain that he and his engineers have what it takes to extract more lap time from the F2012 overnight.

"Now my engineers and I know what is the right direction to go in, which makes me feel more optimistic for qualifying compared to how I felt about it in Melbourne," he said. "Clearly, at the moment, our car is not yet competitive at the highest level.

"Do I feel any special pressure? No, no more than usual: at Ferrari we are always under pressure. The important thing is to understand what did not work in Melbourne and I think we have everything in hand to do that."

Massa's best Sepang result is a fifth place on three occasions, although he memorably spun out of the lead back in 2008 and handed the win to Kimi Räikkönen.

as far as I remember Massa spun out in 2008 in 2nd place, Kimi was already in the lead.

But Ferrari would have swapped positions so Massa could get the points he needed for the title. They'd learnt their lesson after France 99.

I'm pleased to see Virgin and McLaren doing well with their normal noses. Not only does the step appear to be an ugly solution, it may also be a rubbish solution.

Lets hope for some Ferrari 96 style sudden nose changes mid season....

If not, then a much better looking 2013 ;)

Apparently a fire at the Lotus hospitality, seriously damaging the structure.

Looking forward to quali and the race but they should really stop with delaying the action. Real fans want to get up during the middle of the night, not watch at 8AM or 9AM. And trackside fans don't want to wait till 5PM to see a race and have no support action at all. I remember the Korean GP with no supports and the track being in the middle of nowhere. I felt sorry for the Korean fans.

Hey, last week I mentioned in the race thread that I was testing a "reload page" GreaseMonkey script I'd written to help browsing forum threads like this one. Having tested it and improved it during the week, I'd like to share it with everyone. I've posted it to its own page on UserScripts.org here: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/128975

Requirements: Firefox & GreaseMonkey add-on pre-installed.

rhashana on UserScripts.org wrote:
script: TBK-Light forum [PHPBB] - reload thread

Script Summary: Adds a 'Reload' button at the bottom of a thread page for quick reloading of unread posts.
Version: 2012.0323

screencap of page-nav area with new 'Reload' button:

You're on TBK-Lite forums and reading a live race thread. Things are moving quickly. You've scrolled down the page to the last post, and want to check to see if more new posts have been posted - but there's no 'reload' button at the bottom of the screen. This GreaseMonkey script is here to help!

What it does:
Adds a 'Reload' button to the bottom 'page navigation area' of forum thread pages (you know, where it says '1','2','3','4','Next');
If there's more pages to go, clicking it mimics the 'Next' hyperlink;
If you're on the current last page of the thread, clicking it reloads the page and auto-scrolls down to the first unread post.;

So basically: wherever page you're on in the thread, look for the 'Reload' button - that's all you need to click from now on!

Why I wrote the script:
I found reloading pages to check for new posts annoying - either the browser didn't automatically scroll down the page to the new post, or if there was a post anchor (ex: #p123456) in the URL, it just jumped to that anchor point on the page without reloading whenever i hit F5, Enter, or the 'Reload' icon. And on my netbook, using the touchpad, I found the 'Next' link a bit hard to land the mouse pointer on. Changing the 'Next' link to a larger button makes things super easy. I hope you like it too!

If you install it and try it out, let me know. Once I'm sure there's no issues or improvements needed, I'll announce it to the rest of the forum in its own thread.

Track is basically dry, too dry for intermediates, but they're somehow waiting it dry ever more.
