I imagine that's an oft-used meme elsewhere on the wubz, but it's new to me and I almost spat coffee all over the laptop, lol.

FIA have confirmed 2 DRS zones but only 1 detection point for this weekend.
http://www1.skysports.com/formula-1/new ... lbert-Park

Detection point will be just before turn 14, Zone 1 will be down the start/finish straght & zone 2 will be on the exit of turn 2 along the straght to turn 3.

Too bad if you ask me, there has been a lot of fights in the past in that area where they needed to run wide, but perhaps they will back down a bit more now. And is it true that there is a new rule which prohibits the drivers from running wide without a good reason? And that the stewards decisions will be the definitive decisions? Cause I've read that somewhere.

I can't help but facepalm at this.
It's ok if you can't overtake at T1, but if you do, the car that's overtaken has no chance to defend itself afterwards.

Australian GP is one of my favorites Grand Prix, it's one of those events that should be seen as mandatory on the schedule. Don't even need to say that my hatred against Bernie had only increased since he's been threatening the GP.

The Land Down Under is mandatory!!!

Also one of the best when it comes to the whole event, always action, great support racing and atmosphere. Just arriving now!

I think I'd be accurate on saying about 10% of this train is Caucasian xD. Multicultural melbourne!

I think the DRS logic is that the short straight from the final turn to turn 1 will enable them to close up and the straight from turn 2 to turn 3 will enable them to pass...

Based on last year I don't see anyone shooting past the car ahead on the short start finish straight but it might be a good compensator to regain the ground lost in the dirty air of the heavily aero affected final turn.

Remember "I'd rather defend DRS than boring racing"-Martin Brundle ;)

The changes to turn 5 are interesting as it seems to be the FIA saying they don't want any overtaking around the outside like Vettel managed to pull off on Button last year.
A shame really, I thought that move was brilliant.

I reckon the drivers will still use most of that new strip anyway. As a melbournian most of the heavy rain hit today will tomorrow and saturday which means it ll be fairly dark for FP2 and Qually, but cant see sunday being wet at all expecially at 5pm. Its a good thing though because this race doesnt need to be wet to be exciting. DRS zone 2 will be interesting expecially if there is more than one car in the train. It ll be sunny so you watch the drivers complain about glare by the end.
