I'm sceptical of that. Giedo is going to be running in the free practice sessions and I think that a couple of Dutch outlets picked up on that and tried to spread a rumour. |

Tio Ellinas to drive for Marussia in the young driver test. First cypriot in an F1 car, right? |

He's taking part in the 2013 test. So, early planning... |

I'd find it really funny to see him taking a seat for 2013. I wonder the lots of jokes that would come up as "Tio" in Portuguese means "Uncle". |

phil1993 wrote: He's taking part in the 2013 test. So, early planning... Well not really. The highest finishing Marussia Manor GP3 driver is given a test drive in the F1 car, that was Ellinas. They're not going to give him a Friday practice session or time in the car during winter testing, so the young driver test is the next and only logical occassion. |

No, usually they give them a test that year. Giving him a test in November 2013 does seem like early planning. |

According to Christophe Malbranque from TF1 (french tv), Lewis Hamilton is about to sign with Mercedes |

I hope he replaces Rosberg but I know that won't happen. Rosberg isn't much of a racing driver. He's more of a tester like Heidfeld, de la Rosa, Gene, Wurz, etc. |

He is also a race winner, unlike any of the drivers you mentioned. Having said that, so is Pastor God Damn Maldonado, which makes my point useless. |

And then there is Jean Alesi with one win, who was one of the best drivers of his time, in my opinion, obviously. |

maybe both Rosberg and Schumacher will leave. Rosberg to McLaren and Schumacher back to retirement. Who would take the 2nd Mercedes seat then? Perez? DiResta? |

if Hamilton leaves McLaren that would be a very big surprise to me. I can see Raikkonen taking his place in a team that always loved him. It's also the sort of team that would give him anything he wants (such a that steering). I'd like to see it happen. Kimi & McLaren have unfinished business yet. |

I would also love to see that, although I would like to see Hamilton stay as well. But I don't think Kimi wants to return to McLaren. |

Maybe we should make a topic like "Predict next year's grid", the results would be presented at Australia next year. |

Agreed Ryan. It's all too easy to look back and say Alesi made the wrong decision but at the time it was certainly the best option of the two. And yet, the success Williams achieved in 1991 and onwards can really only be contributed to a handful of people, most notably Adrian Newey (who was still a relative unknown quantity in F1 then) and Nigel Mansell (for his development of the 1991 car). I'm skeptical that Alesi would have had the success Mansell had. |

His only podium, and 4th places have come by attrition (could argue he's lost 1 because of his own luck, but moving on), made plenty of clumsy errors, while Rosberg has been consistent (rides the form, putting the Mercedes where the form dictates it to be), and to remind Christian's point he has won a race. I almost forget Rosberg won a race this year, it's never really sunk in that he is a GP winner, yet Maldonado has for me. Well, Rosberg is one of the least controversial drivers in the field. May I even suggest that he is a bit boring? Quite sad, since his father is one of my all time favorite racers. |
