Well no, I didn't. You did...

You keep implying that Perez will switch over, rather than coming out and saying "Perez has signed a contract to drive for Ferrari in 2013". And connecting the dots with the above quote, you're trying to be subtle but in a very unsubtle manner. Which normally means you have some information you want to share but don't want to stick your neck out.

I meant to the previous comment ;)

The Perez-Ferrari link was kind of not discussed last week that much. To be honest, the interesting things I heard I've forgotten, so they can't have been that interesting.

What I was talking about, you'll find in a thread on the F1Zone forum about the future of Ferrari's #2.

I agree, he did a very good job to finish. But equally, had he not fucked up the start he wouldn't have been royally Romain-ed.

Regarding Perez, I'd be surprised if he was not wearing red next year. Very surprised.

The clutch was malfunctioning, or so I've read.

I don't think Perez is going. This was the perfect opportunity for LdM to go back on his comments after Monaco if he was so inclined and instead he's reaffirmed them. There's no point in playing games because there's nothing to hide. We know that Ferrari are not so hot on Felipe right now. We know that they have a long-term interest in Perez. Why play games? I think it's just the truth this time. He doesn't want Perez in the car at his age and if Felipe continues to drive well then it would be worth squeezing one more year out of him. He leaves at the end of 2013, Vettel replaces him, and Perez joins when Alonso retires.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Ah, my bad.

The thing is that Alonso is with the team until 2016. Possibly until 2017.

I can't see Perez holding out that long. The issue is Vettel. Have they really got an option on him for 2014 or not? If so, is this why they're keen to hold out on a driver filling for 2013?

What I mean is, are Ferrari serious about an Alonso-Perez line-up from 2013 for several seasons. Or are they having Alonso-Vettel from 2014 and therefore weighing up the prospects of whether a Sutil or Kovalainen is better than Massa for another season?

I think more will depend on how a lot of drivers handle the new regs. It is a wholesale change in the regs. That could turn the running order upside down. The only two I see being able to make the change with too much fuss are Hamilton and Alonso. I could see both of them at Ferrari.

It's a slap in the face to Perez isn't it, by saying sorry son despite taking 3 podiums in a car that is at most equal to our car (yes Alonso is doing an amazing job, I just don't think the Ferrari is as crap as everyone says), whilst our number 2 driver hasn't scored a podium in over 2 years....you are not experienced enough.

If I was Perez I would be saying well I am showing up your no 2. driver and you think i"m not good enough now? well, I might just go somewhere else where they do think I am doing a good enough job. I would be knocking down McLaren, Mercedes and Renaults door if I was him.

That......

but I would left a nice #2 surprise on LdM's desk

That last shot looks like the final corner of Jarama if driven the other way around.

I don't see this happening

I see Fernando staying in F1 until the bitter end of his career, I think his exuberance and narrow-mindedness will keep him in the sport.

Besides, he has a contract until 2016, and is the highest paid of any driver on the grid (by almost double). Don't think he is retiring.

He has said in the past that once he wins a third title he is done.

Of course, that could just be words.

He seems to be really enjoying being in F1 at the moment, so I can't see it happening

COTA is at about the same level as Korea was with 2 weeks before the race to start.

Just read that Auto Motor und Sport (German magazine) says that Petrov will be out before the end of the season, leaving his place open to Giedo van der Garde. Petrov will be out because his moneystream is running dry.

that was coming, certainly after his management indicated "F1 was not good enough anymore" for Petrov.

Shame, I always saw more in Petrov. Still. The first Russian in F1 and a podium place. That's more than a lot of drivers in their careers can say.
