Something about Sunday suggested he's already signed for Mercedes. Speaking of ill-advised moves regarding Lewis, has anyone else noticed a striking resemblance between Simon Fuller and James Allen?

His new management is the same as the Football Agent's. Sure he will get a bigger paycheck, but they only give about the percentage of money they will receive from the transfer/contract.

Hamilton to Ferrari is highly unlikely. Not since 1995 has Ferrari bet on two horses.

Berger and Alesi where the last duo that matched eachother. Since Schumacher joined them, Irvine, Barrichello and Massa all played 2nd fiddle to him and later Raikonen and Alonso.
Why would they suddenly change? And on top of that, why go for a duo that already has shown it won't work well together.

They treated Massa and Raikkonen equally whilst they were team-mates and it worked very well. 1 WDC, 2 WCCs, fuck-all since.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Not that I think that Lewis would go to Ferrari, but does anyone know why Hamilton pointed his finger at the red area from his helmet just before the podium ceremony? Perhaps just for the Monza crowd?

Probably calling them nutters for making all the monkey noises (assuming he was still wearing it at the time).

I don't think Raikkonen was coerced into being the number 2 until China, which is about the same time as which Felipe was made number 2 the previous year.

More often than not, having two good drivers and treating them equally is the best way forward for a team. Alonso has no problem with Hamilton. I believe Ferrari will give him a fair shout. It would be a good thing for the team were it to happen.

I believe he had an Italian flag painted on his helmet as a tribute to the victims of the earthquake earlier in the year. Perhaps that is what he was pointing at.

Perez out... good decision in my opinion!
A driver goes to Ferrari later in his career or after some titles, like Schumacher and Alonso, but it is too early.
Maybe they will even keep Massa? He's not doing a bad job lately.

Quote:
Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has effectively ruled out Sergio Perez driving for his team next year, insisting the Mexican is still lacking experience.

Perez has been enjoying an impressive season with Sauber, having finished on the podium three times, including second place in the Italian Grand Prix last weekend, when he beat both Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa.

The Sauber driver, in his second season in Formula 1, has been linked with Massa's seat for months, prompting di Montezemolo to play down talk of the Mexican landing a 2013 Ferrari seat back in June.

Although Perez has continued to impress this season, di Montezemolo said on Wednesday that 2013 would still be too soon for the Mexican to move into Ferrari.

"Next season is too early," Di Montezemolo told Sky Sports News. "I'm very pleased for him [after Perez finished second at Monza] because first of all it shows that our choice when we have picked up him as a young driver was good.

"Then it is thanks to Sauber and thanks to the Ferrari Academy that he grows up.

"To put a young guy to Ferrari with the pressure of Ferrari, you need more experience."

Di Montezemolo also said he would welcome world champion Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari in the future should the German leave Red Bull Racing.

"I think that Vettel is more or less in the condition like when Michael was in Benetton," he added.

"He's younger, he's a very good driver and he's making a very good experience so in theory, if you have to ask me a name, I could tell you his name."

Seems like he means he needs more experience of the media side of stuff, rather than "race experience". He's already proven he can drive, but throwing Perez into Ferrari now would not be a good idea for the long term.

But is that a failure of Ferrari or Perez?

If you really stand by Perez' talent, you nurture it and guide him. Not come with crap like this. I honestly can see him off to McLaren and giving Ferrari the finger if Hamilton really goes to Mercedes.

I think Perez will go to McLaren.

Maybe the cameras have been missing it but I haven't seen Kamui do his trademark passes recently.

He was doing them fine in Germany.

In Hungary the car was crap, in Belgium the car was made crap courtesy of R. Grosjean and in Italy the car was not crap but the worst of all the top 10 on the same strategy. The best strategy for that race was hard-medium and it took Sergio from having on paper the 6th or 7th best car (based on Friday and Saturday) and gave him the 2nd best car. Kamui, stuck on medium-hard, couldn't do that.

Basically, Sauber need to stop qualifying in the top 10.

Does Perez has something signed with Ferrari because of the Academy deal? I mean something like Ferrari have a right of way in terms of contract or similar (preventing him from going away from Sauber or signing a multi-year deal with someone else without Scuderia's permission)? I don't think Massa will stay and if they went with Lewis that's a long-term deal and basically a shut-off for Perez and of course rumours suggest Hamilton to Mercedes. If Webber hadn't signed an extension the most logical option would be Webber 2013-2014 in Ferrari and Perez coming in 2015. But that's out of question now. But there are several races left in the season. I wouldn't be surprised if come November Luca "officially" changes his mind and gets Perez after all! Perez tp Ferrari is a question of 'when' not 'if'

So speculating for a second, the way I see that it could work is....

- Alonso wins 2012 title
- Hamilton joins Ferrari for 2013
- Perez remains at Sauber for 2013
- Alonso retires at end of 2013
- Perez replaces Alonso for 2014 lining up with Hamilton

But speculation is the word here. Because it is based on no fact.

I agree, he did a very good job to finish. But equally, had he not fucked up the start he wouldn't have been royally Romain-ed.

Regarding Perez, I'd be surprised if he was not wearing red next year. Very surprised.

Is this the "insider" information that you've been promising to unveil since last week Phil?
