Yeah, Ferrari.

Other teams would love to buy him out of his contract.

And why would Ferrari want to let Fernando go?

...

Vettel and Alonso in one team on equal material could finally solve all the controversial discussions on how good or rubbish Vettel really is. I would love to see it.

Do people honestly think Vettel is rubbish? I know people have said that they think he can only win from the front and can't race wheel to wheel, but he's proved time and time again that he can. I'd rate Alonso ahead of Vettel, but only by a gnats bollock.

Some of the mongs on Atlas do.

Interesting to note that any Vettel move would happen in 2014. Meaning that either Ferrari would keep the faith with Massa for one more year, or give an elder statesman one year in the car, or maybe they'll stick someone who might convince Fernando to move on.

Isn't Alonso on record as saying that if he wins a third WDC, he's quitting?

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Every time someone criticised Vettel, he answers them. He's won with crippled cars, he's won when the RBR wasn't the class of the field, he's won on tracks the car didn't suit, he's made some pretty awesome passes, and he doesn't make many mistakes. I'm not sure what else he actually needs to do.

Fernando Alonso is the best driver in the field. Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton are equal second for me.

The thing is, we'd have a 25 year old Vettel up against a 31 year old Alonso. When drivers are in different periods of their career, it's difficult to compare because their circumstances are different. Say the 2005 of Alonso is probably on the level of a 2012 Vettel. Mightily talented, but not yet maximised his potential.

Bearing in mind that 2012 Vettel already has 2 titles under his belt and 2005 Alonso still had to achieve his first ;)

And Kimi in a McLaren that if it had a bit better reliability would have had the 2005 title by a countrymile plus 10 kilometres...

yeah and schumi was in his prime back then
and in 2011 vettel had a car that was a lot better then the rest of the field

Another way of looking at it is Alonso only had 1 WC on the grid to beat. Vettel beat 4 of them.

It's an art to be competitive and dominant throughout the whole year, not just the first half of the season and in the second half shaking in your boots and having title-fever instead of racing

True, but Schumacher and Ferrari were simply too dominant until 2005. So to say which driver achieved his first title earlier isn't a good comparison if you ask me.

I've always rated Alonso highly, but last year and especially most of these last 6 races we're very, very impressive. I do think he is the best driver on the grid right now.

And needed an illegal part to beat him.

Both years.

Then again, the RB6 was one of the best cars in F1 history. And he almost fucked it up. But he lost points through mechanical issues.

We could argue until the cows come home or we could stop imitating Atlas?

It is a golden Era we're enjoying, indeed....

Just a shame the cars look so ugly with their lego noses, I look forward to explaining that again and again to our grandchildren too

"It was just a mad phase the cars went through, didn't last long fortunately!" :p
