Brings back bad memories of the last competition when I put it all on Kubica to win Canada, built massive lead, then put it all on one driver near the end as it wasn't real money and lost.

Hard finding a decent betting website, all the decent ones you gotta sign up and pay for an account just to see their odds.

Might just have to make them up as I go.

Yeah, just make it up yourself using your own opinions on however likely a particular driver doing something is.

That's more or less how everyone does it IRL.

Obviously the objective from your end should be to make it as hard as possible for everyone to 'win' without being prohibitive. For example, this was Ladbrokes' list of odds for winning the Monaco GP;

Vettel 10/11
Hamilton 4/1
Webber 5/1
Alonso 7/1
Button 14/1
Rosberg 25/1
Heidfeld 33/1
Massa 40/1
Schumacher 50/1
Petrov 50/1
etc.

10/11 how does that work? you give 11€ and if he wins you only get 10 back?

Yes, €10 plus your original €11 back.

Basically, the bookmaker is telling people not to put money on a Vettel win, as it is so predictable.

That can't be right. So you are saying if you bet 11 on Vettel, you will get 11+10 back? That is good odds for a Vettel win imo.

Er, not really. If you bet €11 on Hamilton, you'd get €44 plus your original €11 back.

On a LOL betting note, I had xx9.98 in online betting account, so to make it up to a nice round number I decided to put £2.00 on a draw at the cricket at 1/100 to make it xx0.00, only now I've got xx8.00

I'd just do monetary amounts, meaning Vettel would probably have $1.50 odds or something.

I'll create some odds later in the day

That sounds better. If you have something like
Vettel - 1.10
Hamilton - 1.60
Alonso - 2.00
Schumacher - 33.00

It makes it easier than 5/4 or whatever

Are we allowed accumulators?

Awesome idea Dario  ! How will you keep track of the 'bankaccounts' of the competitors?

$50 on Vettel before Webber (at $2.10)
$20 on Perez in the top 10 (at $1.70)
$80 on 5-9 DNFs (at $2.80)

That would mean I've got $850 left in my bank :D!

Post subject:  Re: TBK F1 Betting Competition (in planning)

$50 on Maldonado top 10 $3.50
$50 on Button win $10
$250 on 0 cars crash in wall of champions $4.10

Cash left over : $650

An accumulator is where you put one bet on made of different parts.

So, say I thought that Webber would get pole, Vettel would win and Schumacher will score points. Instead of putting on three individual bets,, I put a bet on one bet where I require each of those parts to win. The odds are worked out by multiplying the individual odds together.

hmm, I might have to make an app to make some of these odd-adjustments etc. automatic :p

Perez Top 10: $70
Di Resta Top 10: $70
1-2 Cars in WoC: $60

Left over: 800
