The finish of this game was as exciting as last years race in Brazil… Both Claymann and Christian have 200 points! So to allocate the ‘predict the 2009 F1 season championship’ I had to check question by question who got the advantage. For the bonus questions I checked who was got closest to the correct answer…

Thanks for organizing that aerogi, its allways nice, I really like it, and its fun to see what we posted in start of the season and how things worked out, I got a 6th place, that was a pretty decent performance ^^ I'm happy about it

How does it work? Do you predict the result for the end of the season or just the result of every race? how do you compete?

But I would like to see one change. Since the point system favours those who pick lot of drivers in 2, 3 and 5 I would like to see a small deduction for every named driver who is not correct.

I took example on Toto87's prediction last year. By a quick look this had a bit of everything.

Green means correct answer with correct amount. Orange correctly picked driver with wrong amount. Red is incorrectly named driver.

I had the idea, if you predicted something that was not correct, for example a win for Alonso, you would get 'penalty' points, but the problem is that it is very difficult to include it in my excel file. I have made something that is kind of completely 'automatic' calculated, the only thing I have to do is to put in the top 8, number of wins etc and the rest is calculated.

This year I will go for this one, feel free to use the data for a version with penalty points...

Next year I will come up with something like that!

in a few minutes I'll post the thread. It works very simple, just answer the 15 questions BEFORE the first practice session, and then for the rest of the season you don't have to do anything anymore, just sit, relax, wait for the results and come up with an excuse why your predictions were totally wrong...

It is possible if you are an excel wizz. What you are probably looking for to do this is a VLOOKUP function, which refers to another table which lists all the drivers which lists their number of poles, wins etc. That way, a right or wrong answer can be referred to this table using an IF statement, which chooses an appropriate value (eg. +1, -1 point or whatever).

Anyways, I didn't take part in this competition last year as I forgot to do it before the season! This year I shall enter!!

I'm already using the 'if' combined with vlookup function, but it gets complicated if I want to allocate negative points for the top 8 final standings for example.

It could perfectly work out for the number of wins etc, but I couldn't manage it in the standings, I've tried, but failed. And I certainly want to have it to be fully automated.
