7 here too. The race was quite interesting, and although there was a distinct lack of overtaking - the close racing was quite interesting.

I can feel a first Mark Webber win coming up!

Damn, I'm good 8O

Frankly he didn't deserve the win this time considering his manoeuvre at the start against Barrichello (it was not very fair from the president of the GPDA   )
Anyway he did a good race with a dominant car. He deserved a win regarding his career but last Sunday he deceived me a lot with this move ...

I think that's exactly how he earned it actually. How many people on that grid would have overcome a drive through penalty and still won by 20 seconds? He made a silly mistake that didn't hurt anyone but himself, and after that was by far the fastest and most determined on the day.

Given such a superior car, most of them.

I think Webber just go tired of being beat by his team mate the guy was very motivated.
I think he could do it again in hungary he goes well there but so do Vettel and Button.

And that explains the gap between Vettel and Webber in the same superior car on the day? Don't be an idiot. The win was a combination of the right driver and the right machinery, like most wins are.

And the Red Bull isn't even as good as those two cars.

Probably, but hopefully not in a dominant way.

Webber has always been quick at the Nurburgring and it was Vettel's first race there. It doesn't take away a great performance by Webber?

Which driver has taken the most races to win their first one?

I have to vote for Webber. I thought he was just in a different class on Sunday (and during the whole week). But Rosberg and Sutil also did a great job each.

Vettel has raced at the Nurburging many times, so isn't new to the place. He just hasn't driven it much in an F1 car. That shouldn't really affect him so much.

Ive always wondered whats it like to be struck down with debilitating cynicism.

So anyone in the 2002 Ferrari could've won the world championship back then? Anyone in the 1988 McLaren?

No, not anyone. Just most.

CART Fan has a point. The F1 grid isn't full of shit and give the majority that RBR and have the race come to you with your main rival being blocked by a slower car at the rate of 2 seconds a lap and others would win as well.

Actually, no, he doesn't. He's making the point that it's easy for anyone to win in the fastest car, never mind there's a teammate with the same car in the race. And I guess your point is it's easy to beat your teammate in the race after you've outqualified him.

Both pretty pointless, really.

My "main rival" was referring to Barrichello. Vettel took himself out of the picture by being rubbish on Saturday. and my point still stands, are you telling me the likes of Hamilton, Alonso, Massa e.t.c. couldn't do the same in a car as dominant when your direct competitor is being held up by a slower car for 7-8 laps at the rate of nearly 2 seconds a lap? Nonsense.

Webber's drive was spirited and good but I am more than sure plenty of other drivers could do the same if things were exactly the same in that car.

Seriously, the 'if he had a different car' argument? I'll leave you to have fun with that one, let me know how many championships Earnhardt could have won in a Ferrari while you're at it.

And by your measure Webber's 'main rival' had 11th fastest lap to his 3rd. Don't think the one stint he was held up totally accounts for that.

Well, you can say that Massa held everyone up, yeah, but that's the biggest reason Sutil was second before he pitted. Also the biggest reason Rosberg was able to make the jump, as well as Alonso. Webber crushed everyone, it's really that simple.

And if most drivers in the history of F1 were in different cars which were outpacing the opposition I'm sure they would have won many races and championships as well. All this "if" crap is bullshit. Who gives a fuck? He drove well to recover from his mistake at the start and thoroughly deserved the win.

Agreed. This IF argument is very pointless. Webber was the standout by far.Yes there were a few drivers who did a great job like Rosberg and Sutil, but no-one could catch Webber.

Webber took 130 to win, thats the most.

Barichello took 124 or so.

Indeed, for anyone who's interested in these statistics:
