Großer Preis Santander von Deutschland
(am I the only german who thinks this sounds incredibly stupid?)

Well, for the first time since 1985 the German Grand Prix will be held at the Nürburgring. After a year off and lots of changes to the Ring itself, Formula One is back in the Eifel Mountains, home of the Green Hell.

Quote:
The Nürburgring, simply known as "The Ring" by enthusiasts, is a motorsport race track in Nürburg, Germany. It was built in the 1920s around the village and medieval castle of Nürburg in the Eifel, which is about 70 kilometres (43 mi) south of Cologne, and 120 kilometres (75 mi) northwest of Frankfurt. Nicknamed The Green Hell by Jackie Stewart, it is widely considered the toughest, most dangerous and most demanding purpose-built race track in the world.

Originally, the track featured four track configurations: the 28.265 kilometres (17.563 miles) long Gesamtstrecke ("Whole Course"), which in turn consisted of the 22.810 km (14.173 mi) Nordschleife ("Northern Loop"), and the 7.747 km (4.814 mi) Südschleife ("Southern Loop"). There also was a 2.281 km (1.417 mi) warm-up loop called Zielschleife ("Finish Loop") or better known as Betonschleife, around the pit area. Between 1982 and 1983 the start-finish area was demolished to create a new GP-Strecke, and this is currently used for all major and international racing events. However, the Nordschleife is still in use.

I don't see a reason why wouldn't it be. Except for the rain. But then again we've seen some good races in the dry on Nürburgring before...

They've reversed the direction.

You're wrong.

They will finally prove that F1 cars can race upside down, so they lift and flipped the entire track, but they didn't change the direction.

This track is much better than Hockenhiem.

Hopefully it will be a good race, im expecting a Vettel win.

2007 proved to be an important race in the championship so I reckon that this one may be just as important. If Button has another bad race and Vettel romps to a win then Button will be under extra pressure.

I don't know why but Webber may be in with a chance here because he had a podium in 2007.

No, you're not, I also don't understand why they don't name it "Großer Santander Preis von Deutschland" which would be gramatically correct. The old Hockenheim Grand Prix was also called "Großer Mobil 1 Preis von Deutschland".

I read Vettel was going to get something named after him. A bit early don't you think?

Santander is also a bank, so maybe, just maybe, they put the name that way because there is a national Santander of Germany?
