It seems odd how BBC coverage, which by its very nature is ad free in Britain, is on commercial television abroad.

No, what Cash means is that people actually buy the BBC coverage, usually the ex-colonies, and show it there. People across the world's coverage will be commentated on by Brundle and Legard.

Not as much of a challenge as it used to be with the V10's and turbos. The real killer was the new bus stop and tarmac on the outside of Pouhon.

Deciding which Bus Stop was best is a bit like choosing what STD you want to have.

Not quite. The old Bus Stop provided lots of overtaking. The new doesn't even look like a bus stop and it's too artificial and slow. The beauty of the old Bus Stop was that if you had the perfect line, you could gain a lot coming out to the main straight and you got another opportunity to overtake on the La Source.

Doesnt mean its not as dangerous and exciting as it was before the changes.

It is less exciting and less dangerous. I don't mind it to be safe, but I don't like the way it was sterilized. Like they did with Pouhon. I remember the times when everyone talked about Eau Rouge. Few years ago, when the Eau Rouge had already become modern, the drivers and media started to talk about Pouhon and so FIA decided that it needed to be sterilized also.

The thing with the Spa modifications are that they've took a lot of character away from the track. It's like they've tried to dress up a canadian timber to look like a metrosexual. The clothes might be nice but when they've on the timber it's horrendous. You have to be really gay to justify these changes.

And before someone comes up with a safety point of view, ask yourself. How many big accidents have been avoided in Eau Rouge and in Pouhon after these changes? Bernt Schneider had huge shunt in DTM on a drying track. Sand trap might have worked better. Also, someone went straight off in GT-race a year or two ago on a wet circuit in Pouhon. After Räikkönen went of last year's practice session, Fissichella went of when the water from the tyrewall flooded on the track, something that definately would not have happened with a sand trap. What I'm trying to say is that the changes are more visual than effective.

I've been to every F1 GP at Spa from 1999 onwards and the track gave me the same buzz in '08 as it did in '99. They've changed some stuff in terms of tarmac run off and resurfacing, but when you're standing at the dip before Eau Rouge or the downhill section just before an f1 car sweeps into Pouhon it still takes your breath away.

Hounestly and i dont care if noone agrees with me here, but i just think people winge about these tarmac runoffs etc because they re hanging out to see crashes. From a drivers point i understand but from a spectators view it annoys me but i deal with it and so should everyone else.

Im sorry but im just so sick of people having a bitch about how the FIA changes the tracks, just deal with it and move on. Iv been watching formula 1 for 6 years and no track changes, regulations, driver changes etc will ever change the level of excitment i have before each GP weekend starts.Every raw F1 fan should feel the same.

Agreed too, although I had to edit it as it was making my eyes bleed (sorry footballs :P).

I don't see why fans should just "deal with it" when one of the fundamental parts of the sport - the fact that drivers should be punished for their mistakes - is being taken away.

Because its easy for a spectator to say a driver should be punished for his mistakes, but its hard for a driver to deal with lack of saftey just because the fans didnt find it satisfactory enough. I know what your saying but FIA has an obligation in this day and age to look after the driver thats all this comes down to.

I would be perfectly happy with tarmac runoffs if the FIA gave out automatic 5-second penalties for anyone who went outside the confines of the track onto a tarmaced area.

Then it's safer and the drivers do not get away with falling off the track either.

No one's saying that they don't want increased safety, but the FIA take it too far.

For example:

A great corner has been destroyed with those changes, and I think fans have a right to complain.

Theres obviously an increased risk of something happening at that corner now or it wouldnt be getting reprofiled.

The chicane they had there sufficed already. They've kept that chicane so there was absolutely no reason to bugger up the corner like they've done.
