Dunno if it has been mentioned but Alonso raced most of that without any form of liquid nourishment. Put his lack of pace in the latter portion of the race in perspective. Kudos to Nando for even making it to the finish given the extreme heat.

Quote:
Alonso dehydrated after race
Fernando Alonso was the unfortunate victim of dehydration when stepping out of his Renault at the end of the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Spaniard, who started seventh, eventually scored a point despite having no drinking water available for the duration of the race.

With the drinks pump failing before the start and track temperatures at 50°C (122°F), it was no surprise that the Spaniard was not in peak condition after the race. "We did our maximum today," he said afterwards. "The start of the race was not perfect and we lost a position, which put me down to eighth. There were no retirements and we were eighth fastest, so we finished eighth."

"Fernando Alonso’s drinking pump failed during the race, leaving him without water for the duration of the race. He subsequently suffered from dehydration as he got out of the car. He has now fully recovered."

Every once in a while we get a race that is so crap that it doesn't even deserve to be rated above a 3. This is one of those races.

2/10 only because of the first lap action.

Maybe not important, but with the medal system, this would be the current ranking.

1. Button (1)
2. Vettel (3)
3. Barrichello (2)
4. Webber (6)
5. Heidfeld (9)
6. Trulli (4)
7. Glock (5)
8. Hamilton (7)

Under the medals system only 1st place is decided by wins. After that it's by points, so there's no change from what the standings actually are at the moment.

Edit: Unless you mean the very first medals system idea with gold, silver and bronze.

The wins thing won't make a difference because Button will dominate.

Alonso has lost a lot of weight since last year.

Piquet. A very solid race by him, especially for someone who is under a hell of alot of pressure. Drove very cosistantly and aggressively. But also Button was a stand out again. It just shows what a driver can do in a car which is competitive. Button was my pick, but he has alot of votes, so i picked Piquet as he was my 2nd choice.

Fisichella, was amazed to see him fight with cars that are usually a long way in front of him.

That explains why Fernando was slower than Piquet during the second part of the race ( http://fialive.fiacommunications.com/en ... alysis.pdf ) Certainly I was surprised about Alonso's performance during the race. He couldn't follow Raikkonen although right now Ferrari and Renault pace are very similar.

lol nice.

Just in case aerogi, she was probably next to him when he was dehydrated, and was helping him up to his feet. If not, then probably what Mclaren2008 said.

Not really, Piquet did have a good really good race, and if he qualified better, he would of been much closer to the points. I guess it could also may of been tyres, as u could see the harder tyres were much slower, this could also explain it.

Barrichello. He drove well to make best use of a 3 stop strategy, which aren't used very often.

4. The first 10 laps were quiet good, but went downhill the rest of the race.

Coverage was good, but Legard was pretty awful again. During the middle of the race he desperately scrabbled around with various theories of how the race was going and all of the time was wrong, and he once again spoke in a really awkward, contrived kind of way.

not to mention some unexplained link with a diver who could hold his breathe for 21 minutes and Jenson Button leading the championship.

I concur.

Something that really does bug me about F1 coverage - when the coverage switches to people in the pits as the cars are lining up on the grid. I hate it. I want to concentrate on the cars.
