Grand Prix in the streets of Teheran in Iran would be nice as well. There were big crowds lately.

tokyo r427 or clubman ss5 imo

Okay seriously...the US doesn't have many quality road courses (or roadies safe enough for F1...and by safe, I mean bastardized for Bernie's enjoyment). This leaves the street courses, but I know certain cities would like to close down part of their town only once a year unless they're are willing to close it down a second time (or, more preferably, kick the IRL out). That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing F1 at the Burke Lakefront Airport...the track is wide, huge run-offs, and spectacular racing.

Don't think this is the right thread to post it, but i read a couple of weeks ago that Argentina is pretty much confirmed for next year's F1 calendar, with a street circuit in Mar del Plata. I have no idea if this possible split would change the deal.

But more seriously (although they don't exist anymore :( ):

Quite right - people who suggest places like Bathurst, Old Nurburgring and so on, must be joking.

Im assuming circuits under contract with F1 would be unable to host a race if a new championship was to start?? Remember the interview for the BBC with the Prince from Monaco, who said (when talking about Ferrari pulling out) that Monaco would always go with the top racing series, and if this new championship were to begin to take over F1, Monaco wold surly follow.

But anyway....

- Adelaide
- Mexico City (when the swine flu is cleared obviously!)
- Buenos Aires
- Montreal (if not on 2010 F1 calendar)
- Dubai
- Portimao
- Jerez
- Magny Cours
- Silvestone
- Nurburgring
- Moscow-Ring (if completed by next year)
- Imola
- A1 Ring (if it is still being re-opened for next year)
- Indianapolis
- Durban (with track revisions making it longer)
- Suzuka

I try to predict the calendar here.

Melbourne has a contract with FIA, so it's out of the question. Most tracks in the calendar could host both F1 and FOTA events, but street courses are probably out. Therefore we don't see FOTA going to Melbourne, Monaco, Valencia or Singapore. I'm not sure if they want to use the majority of the F1 circuits in their calendar, but let's believe that they do so because of the safety standards. FOTA also wants to have at least 17 races, maybe more after first one or two seasons.

So:

- Malaysia
- China
- Fuji
- Bahrain
- Imola
- Barcelona
- Magny-Cours
- Montreal
- Indianapolis
- Silverstone
- Nurburgring
- Spa
- A1-ring
- Monza
- Portimao
- Suzuka
- San Luis
- Interlagos

Correct me if I am wrong, if the F1 series races at the current tracks, would they be allowed to let FOTA to race at their tracks?

Think about it, San Luis hosts a FIA GT race but still they can host a FOTA race?

It is up to track owner. FIA doesnt have any rights to the track.

Yeah, there's few examples from the CART/IRL split time. I think Texas and Phoenix at least held event for both series, but then there were some track companies that were rooting for the other series only, like Nazareth and Indy for example.

Is the old Hockenheimring still available?

Can they fix that up fairly quickly?

I believe they neutered the track because sponsors didn't like the helicopter shots down the long straights.

Phoenix never held races for both CART and the IRL in the same season. When the IRL was formed, Phoenix's CART race became an IRL race. Damn shame, too. I don't even think Texas can count as a CART track, unless you count that bullshit that went on in 2001...

I think that California, Milwaukee, maybe Nazareth, and maybe Michigan held races for both in the same season. I could be wrong, tho.

As far as I remember, only Milwaukee had both CART and IRL in the same year. (not counting Texas)

Michigan, Fontana, and Nazareth had IRL the year after they threw out CART.

Keep in mind though that ISC (NASCAR) owns Michigan, Fontana, and Nazareth, while Milwaukee is considered an independent.

Actually, during the "split" period, Roger Penske owned Michigan, Fontana, and Nazareth. Michigan and Fontana is now under ISC since 2004 while Nazareth was left to die.
