I remember the Sunday morning newspapers, in the aftermath of Ratzenberger's death, reporting Niki Lauda's suggestion that the drivers should get together and spearhead a new safety campaign, and that Senna should be the man to lead it.

Watching the crash live, although it seemed such a tame impact, I just knew it would turn out badly - perhaps the fatality the previous day had put such thoughts in my head.

Although not a Senna fan in terms of ever really liking him or supporting him, it is nevertheless blindingly obvious that for anyone in the 25 - 45 age bracket, he was the best racing driver you ever saw.

One of the greatest unanswered questions is what would the race outcome have been had Senna not crashed?

Schumacher was three-stopping and Senna two. If Schumacher had been able to stay with Senna, he would have probably moved to lead after they make their first stops, but I think he wouldn't have been able to stay there until the end. Berger (withdrew after some laps in the restart) may have been factor in the race too, just like Hill. (collided with Häkkinen in the restart, needed new nosecone) At that time, cars were less reliable, so it wouldn't be so sure if all would have been able to finish.

Häkkinen and Wendlinger had battle for third which probably would have now been for fifth or sixth. Larini would have scored some points but he wouldn't have been on the podium.

From a personal point of view, I like to think of myself as a quite strong person mentally but every year this day comes round it still hurts.
Ayrton became my childhood hero from Monaco 1984 onwards and his death was very hard for me. It still is and I will hold a 1 minute silence for him at exactly 2.16pm, as I have every year since.

Don't know if any of you ever heard the tribute song I wrote about Imola 94 (posted on the old TBK forum)but the lyrics are below. Would appreciate your comments and thoughts...

RIP Ayrton, you gave so much to this 32-year old as a kid and teenager, thank you my friend...

I still have it and listen to it often. Great song it is!

I am currently listening to "A Tribute to Ayrton Senna A Music Documentary"
