They did already and ignored it.

The 2009 season is saved.

I hope they just completely reject this stupid idea, keep it about points, it's always been about points, and should always be.

Although, i do believe the winner deserves more points, for example 12, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. As a win is much bigger than finishing 2nd or 3rd. 10 points isn't enough, as finishing 2nd with 8 points isn't bad, so that would mean the guy in 2nd place wouldn't mind finishing 2nd. To answer all this, all they need to do is make 1st place more points. Also 1 point for pole is great, which they are doing this year, so thats good.

a part on what Eccelstone commented on the topic to the daily mail:

For now it’s just a shame that fans, the sporting public, may not see the kind of racing they
would have done under the system I put forward.

if that man thinks he represents the fans I don't wanna be a fan anymore :yuk:

What a fucking farce. Shame they chose to do that at the wrong time.

Now I hope that the FIA will come up with a better scoring system for 2010.

Exactly, the man only names us when he needs us. And in this case, again, he is totally wrong about what the fans what, so he doesn't know what he's talking about.

By the way, Mosley stated that Bernie had said to him that all the teams would agree with this new system. This means that Bernie lied (big time) to Max, as we all know that the FOTA had voted against the system. Perhaps we will hear more about this in the coming days/weeks.

and who do you suggest replaces him? because once Ecclestone passes away/retires the most likely replacement is a businessman in a suit who won't neccesarily have any passion for the sport. It not like Max's role were the replacement will be someone with racing experience Bernie's job can be quite easily done by some business person which isn't a good thing.

The replacement would need to be someone with the F1 fraternity, someone with sporting and commercial acumen. Any ideas?

Bernie hasn't arranged anything for after his retirement. He has been numerously criticized for this, righteously so.

That is a very good point, I didn't look at it that way. Who would fit the bill?

I'd take a 3 man team.

1 who has a lot of experience within motorsport (but not affiliated to any team)
1 who has a lot of experience in marketing
1 representative of the teams

the first could be Jackie Stewart, dunno if he can do something wrong (or right), second might be Dietrich Mateschitz, owner of Red Bull, but dunno if he known something more about motorsport or does have time to work with F1 and the 3rd should be Gerhard berger, or even Tom Walkinshaw

I don't know any good names to fill in, but they must agree to improve the sport while in charge
