Giving us and the FOTA an entire year to cancel it completely.

I'd be suprised if this one actually makes it into the 2010 season. I expect a much better solution.

The FIA should hire one of those Nigerian Princes who send email to do their jobs. Most probably do it better. What a damn clusterfuck.

This whole backtrack has even made the proper news section on the BBC homepage. Bloody embarrassing, but at least they're not going to be running the system now.

None of this would have had to happen if they'd just boosted the winner's points like 95% of us and all of the teams wanted. Shows how out-of-touch the FIA really are.

I've never seen so much uncertainty so short before a race as this. Come on...

The FIA are a complete joke. But at least this new system has been ditched for 09 at least.

from autosport.com

Quote:
The statement said: "On 17 March, the FIA World Motor Sport Council unanimously rejected FOTA's proposed amendment to the points system for the Formula One Drivers' Championship. The 'winner takes all' proposal made by the commercial rights holder (who had been told that the teams were in favour) was then approved.

"If, for any reason, the Formula One teams do not now agree with the new system, its implementation will be deferred until 2010."

great trick by those fairly inteligent apes. "Oh we thought the teams agreed...."

They knew the teams didnt like this, they knew they couldnt push this one tru but somehow they hoped the teams would accept being told to shut up and do whatever the FIA wants....

The fact that the FIA was able to respond this quickly to the FOTA claim supports this theory.
