The last championship before 2008 where the driver with the most wins hasn't won was 1989.

If FIA wants to motivate drivers to win, go back with 10-6-4-3-2-1, although I dislike the idea of only 6 drivers scoring points. Maybe a 12-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 could be a better solution, or something more radical, for example 15-10-7-5-4-3-2-1.

'Our' opinions are very clear, 6% of the voters do like the medal system or think it's a good idea.

I guess the result of the official poll should be similar. Hopefully.

Mmm. I'm a bit dubious about the poll being on the official F1 website.

Well Bernie wasn't happy about 'us' deciding something like this and also told we should forget the word medals. I guess his plan wasn't approved by the fans, but I do think the FIA should publish the results.

That scoring system was a horrible idea. It makes no sense.

In these days of ultra high reliability I think the system would work well, in the sense it would encourage a bit of risk taking in the knowledge that you effectively have nothing to lose.

The system that used to make no sense at all was when they split the season in half, best x from first y, best x from second y. Wtf was that all about?

The "best of" system does get complicated at season's end though, and so I didn't miss it when it went - mainly because they at least upped the value of a win to compensate.

And also a driver can score more net points and still loose the championship (Prost 1988 v Senna).

And in 1964 too - Graham Hill scored more points than Surtees.
