So anyone taking bets for when the first kneejerking reaction from the FIA will come to do something about the reliability??

But the FIA likes reliability. Less retirements is less parts being replaced is less money. It's good all round as far as they are concerned.

I don't really see the issue with the cars not breaking down. What needs done is more variables like grass stripes before tarmac run offs which punish drivers. Tarmac run off is good, but they need to be punished for mistakes. That's a bigger issue than the cars not breaking.

Rumours suggest that Valencia will become the Spanish GP by entering a 10 year contract, but F1 will stop going to Barcelona.

I'll take that.

There's no way Formula 1 is dumping both Spanish grand prixs while Alonso still has a pulse, and this is probably the next best solution. Valencia is marginally more conductive to racing than Barcelona is.

That's fine. Both circuits such, but Valencia deserves time to improve - Barcelona just got worse with that chicane.

And the best part is that you can't test at Valencia, so they won't get a perfect setup car everytime they go there.

Recreating Kubica's crash to demonstrate the importance of strong barriers.

They made two tests and they compared two situations.

On the left - barrier is done as it should have been
On the right - barrier as it was during the crash ( loose bolts )

Look how it just tore through the fence in the second one, it was almost like it was a wooden fence.

10 years at Valencia? God help us.

Barcelona is by far the better circuit. Take the chicane out and it's a good track. Doesn't always produce very good races (better than Valencia every year), but so much better on the eye than Valencia. Shocking decision.

That seems to be a pretty accurate simulation there. Certainly looks very close to the photos of the accident. Much more accurate than I would have thought

Red Bull will lose 0.5s a lap according to Marko

Not terrible. Most teams will lose something. Renault are going to get hammered.

The big winners will probably be Sauber, who do not use an off-throttle blown diffuser.

In English it would be "Robert Kubica's".

Talk about words misconstrued
http://www.nicorosberg.com/2011/06/nico ... tatements/

And an interesting theory has cropped up on Atlas (there are some useful people there) about the finish to the British Grand Prix:

The position of the pit entry is such that its shorter than the track
Image

I watched MotoGP and the finish line is just after the exit of Club, therefore not too far down the pit lane. This theory suggests that it is quicker to finish the race on the final lap to go through the pits rather than take the normal circuit. Because you brake later than you would for Vale and simply have to negotiate one corner. If you're a few tenths behind someone on the final lap, it could be worth a punt.
