81, shit, that only just "hit" me. It's pretty incredible at what range and speed he's still involved in everything, he could drop dead any minute!

Interesting analysis on Autosport Plus.

Because of the way prize money is shared out, Ferrari gets more than RBR & McLaren, despite finishing only 3rd. Ferrari gets an estimated $104-5m, Red Bull gets an estimated $93m, McLaren estimated $84m. Force India end up with about another $6m this season, Williams lose about $12m if not more. Team Lotus (ie Caterham) get an extra $31m for becoming a column 1 team (finishing 10th in the WCC for 2 out of the 3 previous seasons) + their $12m for 10th place.

Apparently, Grosjean set to be announced at Williams, not a surprise as Williams will run Renault engine.

Why is that? How is it calculated?

Edit: Was hoping my 1000th post was going to be more exciting than that. lol

Ferrari get that 'historic' money because they've been in F1 since the 50's.

its 'unrivalled' historical contribution, consistent presence and strength of the brand means that once the teams' pool of prize money is in place, Maranello gets it hands on the first 2.5% of the prize money fund.

So Ferrari's initial bonus from an estimated $691m will be $17.3m, before it also gets more of what are known as 'Category B' entitlements based on world title winning success – which amount to another $16m.

Before Ferrari even turned a wheel in 2011 then, it began with a starting fund that based on our estimates could be as high as $33.3m.

Which is almost as high as the budget HRT is running... Doesn't seem fair, does it?

Can you please give more details? How much is estimated that Sauber will win?

It's quite complex, no-one really know. However, it'll probably be maybe... $5m more than 2010 as they were 7th rather than 8th.

May well change though, its very early!

Also, that helmet of Kimi's is a photoshop, not official at all

Vettel #1, obviously favorising him at RBR.

Maria de Villota says she is close to becoming Lotus's 3rd driver, either later this month or early next month.

Although, with the amount of drivers the team has, she'll probably be 7th driver and never drive a car

It'll just be money and good team exposure for having a female driver... Nothing else.

See this is the thing.. All that cash has to come from somewhere...
We all want the teams to be paid their "start money", bernie harvests that money from charging country's For the GP ... The more he charges the bigger and stronger the prize fund..
Plus bear in mind, we all bemoan the fact that Classic European tracks get lost off the calendar in return for bland tilkedromes in deserts.. But those old tracks entry's are partially subsidised by the new world tracks fees and I'm sure Bernies recent comments about cutting back on euro races has more to do with balancing the books and keeping the prize fund topped up than the poor condition of the toilets at Monza
