Ah.

Well, I guess every team has niggles.

On an unrelated note, chalk me up as wrong regarding Nick Fry:

Ross Brawn wrote:
Nick has been a key member of the team. He retains his position as CEO and will be a vital member for the future. Nick's position hasn't changed, despite the speculation, and he has been a vital part of putting this all together.

To be fair to you, the internet is a beehive of info about Brawn and a lot of it is untrue.

Remember the list of things someone posted a few days back from RealHondaF1.com, with the Snetterton thing and the Mike Gascoyne thing? My mate took a look at it and said 'most of that's bollocks - suspect someone's pretending they work for us!'.

It does prove bloody difficult to pick through the rubbish when you're looking for solid info.

Does Brawn GP have any sponsors as of yet? If something incredible happened and they did win the race at MElbourne, when did an unsponsored car last win a GP...? Mid 60s?

I think the Ferrari was unsponsored at Monza 2001 after the 9/11 attacks? Although that was a mark of respect as opposed to them not having a sponsor.

Before that... I'd guess James Hunt winning for Hesketh in 1975.

Ferrari didn't win at Monza 2001, it was Montoya in a Williams.

I spoke with someone close to the sport and mentioned these two points. He agreed they were both bollocks but said the Snetterton thing was put out to the media as a decoy so the team wouldn't get too harrassed at the first running of the car at Silverstone. As for the Gascoyne thing well, he just laughed. He also said that Mercedes told Force India that if they were to supply engines et al to the team in 2009, Gascoyne had to go.

Pitpass are right for once:

300 to go at Brawn?

On a personal note, having seen my best mate feel pretty down all winter then very relieved after the buy-out, it's bloody awful to have to come into work to find him emailing me with '... might be my last few days here... '.

Ho hum :(.

Well if there are 3 new teams next year hopefully your mate can find work. Although if one is USGP that won't help much

It's happening:

Quote:
Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group is within hours of confirming its involvement in Formula 1 as a major sponsor of the Brawn GP team.

Following reports that initially appeared in The Times, AUTOSPORT has confirmed that Branson is now en route to Melbourne to confirm that he will become a backer of the Brackley-based team.

Sources say he is so keen to press ahead with the deal that he has cut short a family ski holiday to finalise the deal in person.

Brawn GP has run unbranded so far, sticking to the white, yellow and black corporate colours used in testing so far , but are now poised to unveil a major rebranding exercise.

AUTOSPORT understands that it is possible new colours could be used on the cars as early as this weekend's Australian Grand Prix, where the team are among the favourites for victory.

As The Times reported, Branson is expected to confirm his involvement in a press conference at the Albert Park track this weekend.

Virgin had been linked with the buyout of the former Honda team earlier this year, but Branson admitted the sport needed to change before his Virgin Group got involved.

"I think there are faults that would need to be rectified before we could go into F1," Branson told the BBC.

(from Autosport).

I'll weigh in right now and predict a limited edition Minichamps if they run the white scheme only on Friday.

They've also signed a deal with Henri Lloyd (clothes) supposedly.

Sadly for 40% of the staff I doubt it'll keep them in the jobs beyond next Tuesday, but for the team it's a great deal.

Red/Blue would be pretty cool. I was more hoping for the yellow/black/white of the brawn gp colours, but atleast they have a good sponsor now.
