Well, in reaction to that ;) I had also a try to make a 'BBC F1 2009' intro on "The Chain"

What do you think about it? :)

The one they had for the last few years was my least favourite ITV intro.

Not only did they use a song that got boring pretty quickly (Moby's "Lift me up"), but also the images have hardly anything to do with F1 rather than a Bond-Intro!

I actually like an intro without too much stock footage, it somehow appears cheap to me...! That said, I pretty much like the mock-ups I see here...!

Usually the stock footage intros are a "how can we lure in the casual viewers by showing them the biggest crashes while not pissing off the hardcore fans by showing nothing but crashes..." balancing act.

ITV Milked Spa 1998 for about 3 years on their intro from 1999 onwards, I wouldn't be suprised to see a few of the bigger shunts from the past few years make the BBC's.
Plus that slo-mo shot of DC spin turning his Red Bull with the rear wheel on fire, that'll definately make it! :p

I don't mean this to sound as harsh as it's probably going to, but Louise has to be mid-40s now.

The girl the BBC employ to ask exactly the same type of questions won't be.....

I think that'll be the only difference, I don't see anything changing in the "Aww, so what happened to you?" *Driver gives 5 second explaination saying he crashed" "Aww bad luck" regard. Just the BBC will think their girl is prettier...

Well there is a limit.
Hot, yes, but able to string more than two sentances together without the pressure of live TV getting to her?
No

All they'd have to do was something like this, granted using F1 footage as opposed to GP Master's but this looks and sounds the bee's. The song is a timeless classic ever associated with the BBC's broadcasting of F1. I don't see why a cover version of this is necessary tbh.

She's doing a good job doing the live local sport news segmants on BBC Look East... doubt it can compare though tbh. :whistling:

He was a brilliant commentator up til 2001, but his guest appearances since he's just been hopeless.

Agreed. He retired at the right time. His mistakes used to be funny but on some of his recent appearances it was nothing but mistakes! He will probably always be my all time favourite commentator but it just wouldn't be the same if he came back now.

I don't ever remember them using a computer game for Martin's lap..

Martin seems a bit annoyed by it too "using a lot more kerb than this simulation shows!"

I saw that a few weeks ago and one thing that I noticed was how different it felt to qualifying just a few years later.

It's quite an amusing feature really cos some of the tracks have numerous errors and even extra corners added where there aren't any (like the back straight at Montreal).

It's basically F1 97 without advertising. Hence why Jim says "Thanks to Psygnosis"

Oh and the kinks on the back straight at Montreal are from the old track iirc. They just didn't edit them out on the game

I always remember crapping myself when playing Montreal in the first Playstation F1 game with that giant chicane halfway down the straight.
I was accelerating flat out and..."HOLY SHIT there's a WALL IN MY WAY!!!"

(Ironically I did a similar thing in a kart in real life when the track configuration was changed between the morning and afternoon races...it was about this time I was pulled aside and had a quiet chat with and asked not to come again... :( :p )

I'm very confused seeing you with an Avatar Ryan....

Anyway, more proof that Murray can commentate on anything and make it sound great! :p

(a shame about the tracking of the video but you can't have everything! ;) )
