The BBC must have rights to a lot of footage - there are highlights of Donington 93 on the website :D

BTW its been mentioned on DigitalSpy that BBC are planning a GP night the weekend of the Australian Gp with something like 12 Hours of F1 coverage on BBC1/2/3 from around 5pm Saturday night.

There is a provisional schedule posted here:
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/show ... ount=11068

Its worth going through some of that members older post's as they have posted a lot of other info about the BBC's coverage this year.

Sounds great

Also, Brundle was hinting today at ASI that the sessions would be on BBC 1 but the banter between EJ, DC and co would continue on the red button, allowing them to have a more hardcore-aimed discussion. So I guess that means for BBC 1 they'll do all the Lewis asskissing and pleb talk like ITV did but then on the red button, they'll drop the bias and talk about the nitty-gritty. Apparently like the MotoGP coverage. Now that sounds really good, even if Humphrey is involved in that

Quote:
But I think the BBC, once we have finished the main live show, qualifying and the race, it will be red button stuff then; sort of banter between EJ and DC and any of the rest of us that get dragged onto the screen. So I think for the hardcore fans it will be more TV coverage, yes.

this is shaping up to be epic. Glad I have bought my own capture card now. Now all we need is Bernie to put the damn stuff into HD. 8)

I wonder if Finnish MTV3 still dares to claim to have "the world's most comprehensive coverage for the world's fastest nation" since at least the former fact is a sheer false. I'm afraid we're still forced to select the non-commentary audio option by pressing mute. Image

Was posted on Digital Spy today that the original version of the Chain is now a definate as the main theme.

Also was noted that BBC are looking to bring in the Hawk-Eye system in some form.
http://www.hawkeyeinnovations.co.uk/

BBC are also working with FOM to use the cars GPS signals.

Certainly would be nice if BBC could get one of those in place. With the GPS data they could do something similar to WRC's 'Virtual Spectator' features to show different drivers lines through corners Etc...

BTW, perhaps we should start an F1-TV coverage thread where we could discuss everything Tv Coverage related?

Good idea.

On a side note, Brundle was interesting to hear at ASI, also good to hear that they won't be dropping his gridwalks since he said something along the lines of being proud to wear the BBC logo on the grid in Melbourne.

Great. I was happy either way but this will mean there is no risk of some nonsense remix

To monitor the crossing of the white line at the pit lane exit?
