I'd be surprised of Gene still owns the team this time next year.

Gene seems to have come out swinging publicly saying he doesn't want to be 10th anymore and basically throwing Steiner under the bus. Now he probably wasn't the root cause of their issues but like in hockey or other pro sports, sometimes you just need a change of voice behind the bench to get the team to respond. And it's saying something that Steiner seems to be best known for his "starring role in DTS" Good riddance, not going to miss him having him around.

They'll soon realize that the Team Principal isn't the main issue.

that's even more likely because I believe Liberty simply don't like Michael

but since there's lots of people willing to enter the sport now it's lucrative Gene might sell his assets to any shady character

Saudis will probably buy them with loose change

Gunter's argument seems to be that he asked for more money for the new rules set so they would improve their championship position, otherwise they'd finish last and Gene would have to put in more money anyway because the money they'd get from FOM would be reduced, so Gene would have to increase his contribution to make up the spending they had previous

It seems like Stiener was proved right on this, but as ever in any organisation, the person that identifies a potential problem usually gets blamed for that problem being their fault....
Easier to fire Gunter and pretend it was all his fault than just identify the root cause of the problem, that the team needs serious investment

McLaren have revealed their new livery for 2024!

For those wondering: it´s the same as last year.

That until Monaco, Miami or Vegas when they'll unveil another special livery

Sooo Talladega Nights was supposed to be a comedy. But the team being named VisaCashAppRB powered by Honda isn't too far fetched. I would normally say it is an absurdity to even semi seriously take a team being called that, but with this retarded "franchise" mentality, I am not so sure anymore.

Thankfully, one thing hasn't changed: the public will always fight back against such stupidity, and either adapt a better nickname or keep using the legacy name.

I doubt that the sponsors names are going to be part of the constructor name.

I'm not sure where the general hostility to sponsors in the team name has come from, seeing as it has been a thing since long before I started watching.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

It is because a teamname lasts forever. It will always be McLaren or Ferrari.
A sponsor can buy a team and build a legacy like Red Bull. But other sponsors just pay a lot of money to give their name to a team and leave when the contract expires before they can settle down as a name with history.. I´m not going to call Sauber "Stake" as they will be gone again in a couple of years. Sauber is a name with history, Stake is not.

Red Bull has been offically Oracle Red Bull racing for a while now, I don't think any of us have actually noticed that

Orange Arrows though, that worked, because they WERE orange.

Except when it is 'West McLaren Mercedes' or 'Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro', which is what those team names were when I started watching. In fact, of the 12 teams that attempted a race when I started watching, only Minardi didn't have a sponsor in the team name.

The team name is not the same as the constructor name. The constructor name has always been Ferrari, McLaren, Williams etc., and I wouldn't blame anyone for not using Sauber's new one which has a sponsor in it (although, again, when I started watching, every time there was a Sauber on screen the caption said 'Sauber-Petronas', and I don't think Petronas make engines). As I said, I don't think Visa and CashApp are going to be in the constructor name. If they are, then just call them Racing Bulls. Or keep using Alpha Tauri (which is also a sponsor and not a race car constructor).

I think calling the team by the sponsor name died with the great Murray Walker tbh

He was always one for "the Malboro Mclarens have collided!" or "The John Player Special lotus is on fire!", but then, he was an advertising man himself in his day job, so he knew the value of sponsorships to teams and making sure they were said on air.
